Not to threadjack, but I looked on amazon for Enemies Foriegn and Domestic, and can't find any copies. Just the sequels. Where can I find this book new at a decent price?

ETA: Unintended consequences looks interesting, but where can I get a copy for less than $100?

You might want to check out anything by Clive Cussler, most of his books have lots of captivating action with plenty of detailed gun play. I'm a die hard Dirk Pitt fan myself (the protagonist of most his novels).

+1 on clive cussler books. i am a huge fan of his books. especially the Oregon file books. it's kind of like the a-team on a boat with lots of machine guns and missiles.

Anything by Stephen Hunter... Every one of his books depicts accurate use of firearms. He wrote Point of Impact, which is the movie that Shooter is based off of. All of them are good... and I own all but a small handfull of them. Lots of suspense, lots of good writing, lots of gunplay... he does it all.

try the Deathlands series by James Axler every book has lots of gunplay and most of the earlier books in the seiries give very detailed descriptions of the guns that the main characters carry. It's really fun to read when u know what the guns look like and possibly the sound of them cuz you can see it in your head. And the writers of the book really did their homework when it came to the weaponry.

The Mack Bolan books.

Honor of the Queen in the Honor Harrington series has a good account of a duel.

The Prince Roger series by John Ringo. That one also has several different generations.

The David Drake Hammer's Slammers series.

Jerry Aherns ( yeah, it's the gun guy) SURVIVALIST series is full of guns and gun play set in a global post apocalyptic world.

I'm currently writing a new novel that's not connected to the "Enemies" trilogy. The protagonist is a former Marine scout/sniper and veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. There will be a LOT of shooting!

Anything by Leonard B. Scott. He wrote several Vietnam war novels and the combat scenes are very intense.

Mathew Brennan wrote some Vietnam war historical accounts that are good. I especially Liked his "Headhunters" which is a collection of personal accounts of soldiers in the 1st of the 9th Air Cav.

Donald E. McQuinn wrote a series of three novels that have become my favorite post apocalyptic novels entitled "Warrior", "Wanderer" and "Witch". He also authored the "Honor Harrington" series.

Another Post Apocalyptic novel I like is "Wolf and Iron" by Gordon R. Dickson. Not as action packed as some, it's one that felt very real to me and is well written. I highly recommend it.

William C. Deitz has three novel series that are action packed. One is the "Imperial Bounty" series and another is the "Drifter" series. They are loads of fun, fast paced and laced with gun-play. The third is his "Legion of the Damned" series. It's a romanticized version of the "French Foreign Legion in Space". Plenty of military action. It also has cyborgs that are the brains of condemned criminals & hopelessly terminal patients in a box that can be plugged into big war machines.

If you like big, romping stomping robot war machines, look for Battletech, & Mechwarrior novels

any kind of survival in the wilderness where firearms are the stars

Last of the Mohicans. Plenty of black power musket action.

I'm a big fan of C.S. Forrester's Hornblower series, though it's mostly cannons, not small arms.

most of Louis L'Amours novels, covers some interesting guns like the roper revolving shotgun, as well as the colt shotgun, and the walch 12 shot navy.

I believe Dave Weber wrote the Honor Harrington books his latest books in the safehold series have good navel battles with 17th century type canons

I remember reading one years ago called "The Five Fingers" (I did a search it's by Gayle Rivers). Based during the Viet-Nam war it's about a special forces team sent into NVN and IIRC China to kill high ranking officials. Toward the end the author at least implies the story is based on fact. I have no idea if that's true or not, but it's got, as I remember one blurb on the back saying, "More killing than a Chicago slaughterhouse."

I do a lot of novel reading, but frankly can't remember with any specificity how much gunplay resulted in even the most recent ones I read. Go figure...........

The Last Centurion by John Ringo
Monster Hunter Internationsl by Larry Correia
Day By Day Armageddon by J. L. Bourne

While a couple of Cormac McCarthy's works have been mentioned, neither touch the level of pure wickedness that Blood Meridian does... and that's saying a lot.

I also read "THe Five Fingers" by Gayle Rivers. It's a fine read, but I don't like when authors try to give a book extra power by implying that fiction is nonfiction. Rivers also wrote a bogus "nonfiction" account of the Israeli teams that hunted down the Munich terrorists. It's a low trick to dress up fiction as nonfiction.
