I will soon be a proud CPL holder, and to celebrate this fact I've decided that I need a handgun that is more suitable for CC than my only semi-auto, an FNP-9. I have been reading a lot of articles, visiting LGSs, and picking the brains of anybody I know that will listen. A lot of the standard CC guns are of course on my mind, LCP, PM9, G26/G27, P238, etc. However, my knowledge of guns does not extend much further than mostly the newer stuff. So, I'm looking for something, whether new or old, that isn't the run of the mill stuff... something with a little style, some "cool" factor, something I can be proud to show off a little bit. Don't get me wrong, the most important factor to me is reliability and functionality.. but I don't see any reason why I can't have a little bit of both. If I did not explain myself well enough feel free to ask questions and what not, I'm rushing to finish this at the end of a very long night at work. Any suggestions are welcome, and I'd REALLY appreciate pics along with it... I'm a very visual person. THANKS!

Three that spring to mind;
The classic yet world class Sig P232. Comes in a variety of finishes, grips, sights, hides easily, shoots like a dream. Reliable and dependable pistol wrapped in a sexy and beautiful package.

Go the 9mm route with the unique HK P7, or it's first cousin, the Kahr T9. Two very similar pistols. Both excellent, reliable and a bit different from the crowd. Compact, slim yet offer 8+1 and a 4" barrel and sweet triggers. Can't miss.

Something older would be nice like a Beretta 84 or Smith 3913. Most new guns look like eachother and have no class plastic going on.

Or one like that one below there.

For something original I'd look at an oddball variant of something proven.

I like carrying a Kahr, because it is an all steel glock.
I also really liked my Colt New Agent in 9mm. Because it's a 1911 with even smoother lines.

The best place to find the real eyecatchers and be able to select a good one too, is probably in person, meaning pawn shops, gun shops and gun shows. Because that way you get a large selection as well as the ability to inspect it first. 8)

Without doubt

Hmmm, cool - factor, great ccw size, 9mm.. with shooter benefits

That would, IMHO, have to be my/a SA EMP 9+1 SAO 1911 just the way they come from the factory with lifetime, no questions asked, warranty's and goes with the gun even if you sell it to the next guy.. Not to mention SA's CS is first class..

Mine, these, little gems are proven reliable, dependable, natural, balanced, awesome looking point and shoot tack drivers.. Even better if one uses the factory 3-dot night sights for some tight groups, up close, or at distance..

Cocked and locked with 2 safety's, 3 mags, least mine came with 3, easy, from the get-go, beautiful single stack mags that load up all 9 from the first time on, with ease.

Just a beautiful 9mm, very ccw, eye catching (at the range) compact gun with 3" bull barrel, exactly as seen from the factory..

Mine is over 2yrs old, just over7k rounds, and just keeps getting better and better per range session..

Classy? Walther PPK. Or its almost lookalike Polish cousin, the Radom P-64. Only 2 ounces heavier than a Taurus 709 and it fires 9mm Mak which is both less expensive and more powerful than .380.

OK, I don't get it. Its concealed, No one should see it. What difference does how classy something is if no one ever sees it?

Some call it pride of ownership. How about one of those new Rugers with 'Loaded when up' chamber indicators sorta of like a penis?

1911, Kimber makes a bunch of classy ones in both .45 and 9MM. The 4" Kimber Pro's are easy to conceal on the waist band and the Ultra's even easier. The Spring field 1911 EMP 9 is also a classy pistol. An pick yourself up a Ruger LCP .380 for pants pocket carry on those days when nothing else will readily conceal, or if you want class go with the Sig. p238 .380. The Sig. P232 are even more classy, but a little big for the pants pocket. You know there isn't really any place to stop here. What one mans considers class is another mans trash and vice-a-versa. But good luck with your mission.

Webley Mark IV .38S&W pocket model revolver with 3" barrel and small grip.

I carry my EMP most days, and love it as much as you love yours. It has style and class in spades. But unique? Eh. It's a 1911, albeit a little shrunk down.

Something like the P7 would be more "unique" to me. That said, I wouldn't trade my EMP for anything..

My three small 9mms are the:

1. in steel - H&K P-7 (I have both the PSP and M8, the PSP carries better)
2. in alloy - Springfield Armory EMP (the alternative, when I feel like a DA/SA gun is the Sig P-6)
3. in polymer - Kahr CW9 (has the best trigger pull, combined with enough trigger travel for comfortable pocket carry)

The most unique is the P7, all the others are pretty vanilla (SAO, DA/SA, DAO)...French Vanilla, but still vanilla

Unique comes in many forms.. lol

I might add that "unique" to me also includes 2 areas that are key to "any" of my semi hand guns be them 40cals, 9mms, or my Commander size Sig P220/45 and that is their forgiveness when it comes to any kind of one handed shot/s, supported, non-supported (limp wristed) right side up or upside down, they "all continue to fire without fear of feed jams.."

That to me is "a unique" forgiving feature of such guns, adding this to, yep, it's just a 1911, but it is a "built from the ground up" 9mm 3" 1911 unlike far too many of the cut down 3" 45's (as was my once owned Colt Defender 3"45) could jam, did, now and then during one hand, weak handed, shots because of their far more recoil/flip vs what I deem, the 9mm EMP's soft/balanced, predictable, forgiving recoil one handed or otherwise..

And that said, we agree totally, I wouldn't trade my 9mm EMP 1911 for anything

Ruger Vaquero. The "unique" part is two-fold: how you manage to conceal it and the stories you'll have about soiled bad guys if you ever need draw it.

On a serious note, don't forget to consider revolvers as an option.

GETxSOME, I hope you only mean "show em off" places like here at the forum...? If not....then being a new CPL holder, you might want to think about getting in the habit of "never letting anyone know you carry" except on a very limited need to know basis.
That said, I carry Kahrs because like their size, reliability, shootability and trigger.....I buy them in black stainless because I like their style

I don't have one of these, but ever since they were first in great demand 20+ years ago, I have considered them to exude class. Plus they are small even compared to the newest class of mini-autos. Now they're available in 380.
