As someone who had an astigmatism, and had lasik almost 2 weeks ago, I can say it's a huge improvement.
Red dots are crisp, front sight posts have a little blur, but are 100% usable. I did gain being able to pick the individual numbers on the bullseye to shoot at instead of just center of bull. For rifle shooting it was money well spent. Target of lasik was for 1 meter and beyond.
Handgun sights were unusable for a week, but have come back about 50%. Red dots on pistols were completely unusable. Now I can keep My Glock 19 inside a 4" group at 25 yards. I think it's a combination of being able to use a red dot, and clearly see the target. I am eager to see what my Sig XTEN will do.
