While hog hunting the other day a buddy of mine was carrying a beretta 92 and while crossing a fence lost it. We found it later but it got me thinking ,who else has lost a gun? what kind was it? how did they lose it? things like that.

they all fell overboard in a boating accident, i was using the boat as a backdrop to photograph the serial numbers when the weight capsized the boat ....

actually, yes I did.
I had a Taurus 45LC featherweight that I loved, 99% of the time, it had snake shot in it.
I carried it biking, kayaking, ATVin, everwhere...
I have no idea what happened to it, last time I remember seeing it, it was in a drybag during a kayak trip. I dont know if it got kicked out of my truck, stolen at a carwash or what. it just disappeared...

I've never lost one, but I know a guy that had a car wreck and lost one somewhere in the flipping, I think he was told to just report it stolen and go on about life.

was not a gun but i once lost the remote for my dogs shock collar. i walked a big circle in a section of CRP. first i noticed the remote was missing was when i saw my pointer fetching it. i thought this pointer is really dumb.

Haven't lost one (touch wood) but I have found one. An M16-xx While SCUBA Diving in the Kapiti Marine Reserve in New Zealand. About 2 clicks offshore, roughly 80ft down. Looked like it had been there at least 10yrs. Covered in Barnacles and crud. Still had a half a mag in it.

Nope, but I bought an 18" barrel for my Mossberg 500 that some guy had lost the parent gun bird hunting. Great deal too.

got any pics of the m16 ya found
Nah, Unfortunately I don`t. When we got back to the boat ramp we were met by Fisheries officers doing routine inspections. They took one look at the 16 and had the cops there on scene faster than you could blink. After questioning all of us for about 2 hours they confiscated the rifle and buggered off. Probably hanging over the bar in the Police social club now.

Was out on the motorcycle on day when at a rural intersection as I cruised through I went HOLY **** that looks like a gun back there.... it turned out to be a starters pistol.....

Yup, S&W Airweight...
got out to releive myself on the side of the road, set the pistol on the roof of the car, got back in and drove away. Heard it slide off, but didnt realize what I had done. About 100 miles down the road it clicked. :barf:
I turned around and went back and looked for it, but being dark I couldnt find it. A few days later on my way back home I stopped and looked more, but still couldnt find it. It was a sunday so the remote sheriffs office was closed. I called the main office and told them what I had done, and they informed me it had been found and I needed to come get it.:what: As the deputy put it a "granola type" had seen it while riding his bicycle and told the cop where it was. About a week later I went and claimed it. It had a bit of damage(scratches) on the side of the barrell and a small chunk of the hammer was broke off. I had the hammer bobbed and the scrathes smothed a little, to this day its still the gun I carry the most.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting sick of people just showing up in a thread and joking that they "had a boating accident" and all their guns were lost. If you don't have anything more than that to contribute to a thread don't post in it!

If the Govt. does come to confiscate your firearms do you honestly think they will take your word that you don't have any?
