I am looking for a post 64 Winchester Bolt. The bolt is a 30-06 bolt for a model 670.
Can it be replaced without lots of work. Does anybody have bolt for sale?

There's a 30-06 670 complete bolt assembly for sale on eBay right now, "Buy It Now" price is $220. Looks to be a little rough. Just depends on how bad you want it.

Thanks, Guys, while I was down with the BIG C, moved from house. Nobody saw my bolt, now I am better so trying to get back into Survivalist mode, need best rifle working again. Thanks again.

Sorry to hear about your bolt.

You may want to snag that one off ebay, I just checked Numrich's and they don't have *any* in stock, nor do they even list them as being carried. The ebay listing already has 6 watchers, who knows when/if one of them will spring for it..

Link to ebay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Winchester-Model-670-Post-64-Bolt-Assembly-670A-Push-Pull-LA-30-06-70-/151320839481?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item233b6cc539

However, if you are OK with a non-correct (read: new) bolt, my research indicates that a Model 70 bolt *should* fit. Those would be much easier to find. Its part number 27 on this page: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufac...0Post64Series-40339/70Post64-34242.htm?page=3

The 670 was just the K-Mart version of the Model 70. Literally. K-Mart sold them by the thousands. Have one still, fitted with a better stock, it's my go-to .30-06 to this day. The bolt from any same cartridge head sized Post 64 Model 70 will fit. As always have headspace checked.

I just have to ask because at least once a year we see a similar thread, what possesses people to store a rifle and bolt separately? And the results are always the same.

Joed, I've noticed a similar trend as well.

I think it has to do with people wanting to make their firearms safer around kids/teens/etc. If you dont have a safe big enough for a firearm, locking up the bolt prevents anyone from firing the gun.

This has obvious disadvantages of course, but it's a quick-fix if you don't have a normal gun-lock.

Winchester walked away from all of its pre 64's, post 64 M70's. Ownership changed from Winchester Olin to US Repeating Arms Company, which were totally difference companies http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Repeating_Arms_Company If you lose a Winchester or US RAC bolt and find a replacement, jump on it, otherwise your rifle is just a hunk of metal. No one is making replacement bolts.

I have tested interchangeability of my FN PBR bolts in Winchester Repeating Arms Company "Classic" claw extractor rifles. The PBR bolts would insert and close in the classic rifles. Bolt shrouds had different threads and were not interchangeable. I would say, for you, find a complete bolt, firing pin, shroud, safety, etc.
