I have a fully loaded Hornady LnL AP with bullet and case feeder. I have loaded tens of thousands of rounds in different calibers on this press. It is a very enjoyable experience at the bench.

It sucks though that to use the bullet feeder for rifle rounds you have to purchase the new rifle bullet feeder. The pistol bullet feeder can't be converted.:cuss:

Ok I am now done whining and crying :)

The conversion kit would probably be ALMOST as much as the new feeder. Seems to be the way things work these days.....:barf:

I really wonder what it's like in a Hornady board room. I wonder if they are consciously trying to hose people or what?

They still build the pistol bullet feeder using the old style, 110v, no limit switch setup and THEN build a much better bullet feeder using mostly the same parts, but continue to use the old technology in their newly built AP kits, forcing you to buy their whole new "rifle bullet feeder" with neither of them being compatible with each other.

This is the kind of garbage that makes me want to buy a Dillon and take my AP and throw it through their front window on fire. They are either retarded or super greedy and I hate the idea I supported that. And I did because I have all those stupid bullet feeders.

For those of us that are a bit slow on the uptake, explain in detail how the Dillon solves the Hornady bullet feeder problem by offering a low cost feeder that works for both pistol and rifle for the XL650.

It's not about Dillon having anything, it's about Hornady being greedy corporate ****** bags. It's outta spite I'd buy the Dillon.

And what part of the Hornady is low cost? You have to buy a whole kit for the pistol and a whole kit for one caliber of rifle (.223) with a half kit for a second caliber (.30)---that's at least $600 for those 3 items.

Maybe the dual interacting insert method the pistol dies uses just doesn't translate well to rifle bullets - spire points, boat tails, etc. It's a nice system for pistol bullets which are relatively short. Trying to come up with a pair of inserts that can handle the variety of bullet shapes may just not be feasible. A window die and a shuttle system may be more versatile and less problematic.

I will bet you didn't know this but if you add any aftermarket items to a Dillon XL650 then you void the famous no-questions asked lifetime warranty. So if you add a Mr Bullet Feeder or the Hornady bullet feeder to your Dillon press no warranty.

The problem really isn't solved with the Dillon 1050 because the warranty on that press is only 1 year.

Of course you could add a Dillon universal bullet feeder to your press but that would be a problem because they don't make one.

Question: Which board meeting do you think would be more interesting to attend, the Hornady when they discussed the need for separate bullet feeders for rifle and pistol or Dillon when they discussed the decision to not make any bullet feeder for their presses?

Well, get off your duff and invent one that will work for both yourself. It takes time and money to invent things, patent costs, plus the investment in additional manufacturing machinery, etc.

Have you ever built anything to sell? Try it, you won't like it......... No matter what you come up with that you think is the cat's meow, there will be a bunch of haters who think you should have done it "their way", but they never invented anything from scratch themselves......... Been there, done that, won't do it again!

Hope this helps.

I have a Hornady Lock n Load AP Press, and when making the decision vs Dillon and other makes, I found it was a whole lot cheaper to get set up and running for multiple calibers with the Hornady than with the Dillon...by far.

So, spending a little extra on the rifle bullet feeder is not a big deal, when you consider what a caliber change over costs on a Dillon vs Hornady.

Also, not a fan boy for either make...they both make great presses.
