love my new Lee Classic Turret

For someone who shoots 200 rounds a month or less, the LCT is a GREAT, inexpensive press.

I load and shoot over 200rds 9mm per week avg. using the Lee turret press.
I load about a 100+ rds/hr, IF everything is set up and ready to go when I start.

That cartridge ejector is really slick! Lee should buy his rights.

And why aren't you using the Safety-Prime??

I hand prime all my rifle brass because it's really no big deal since I have to clean the primer pockets anyway. (and check the case length, trim if necessary and chamfer/deburr) I hardly ever hand prime handgun cases, the Safety-Prime works very well for me.

Oh yeah, and why aren't you using the Safety-Prime? ;)

I am a big fan of my classic turret also. MrRevolverGuy had a good point though. The little square plastic thingy inside the indexing body can get damaged or worn. Its plastic. Without it though your index won't work.

I get mine at Midway. It's hard to find but the product number is 178889. They are 1.99 each.

Get a couple extra. I have only used one and I think it was my stupid that damaged the first one.

After 2 years & several thousand pistol rounds my ratchet gave up the ghost. The kit comes with a spare but I couldn't find it.

Called Lee & ordered 10 of 'em at $.50 each. Midway's making a killing!:D

Naturally after I received the new ones I found the spare, but I'm set for 22 years of loading.

question for you guy's with lee the turret press. would i need to buy the shell holder set also ? thinking of reloading 9mm or what else do i need to get to reload the 9mm other than primers, bullets, case lube. die set, powder ?

If you buy Lee dies, they come with the shell holder. Not so with RCBS dies. I dunno about other die sets.

What else do you need? My God, you'll need a truck to carry it all if you bought it all right away. :)

Well, not right away. Besides the press and the dies and brass, primers, powder, you'll need the following:

A way to prime the cases. If you're going with a Lee Turret, the Safety Prime is the way to go. It is included in most kits.

A scale to weigh the powder charges. Absolutely mandatory.

A set of calipers. Maybe not mandatory, but almost.

Not mandatory but very nice with a turret would be a powder measure. The Lee Pro Auto Disk is the most popular technique with their turret.

I got my Lee Classic Turret set up and running with the Pro Auto Disk just last night. I am very impressed. The press is a snap and will make loading so much more efficient. The Auto disk is dead nuts consistent. Highly recommend. I love mine, too.

The Lee die set comes with a shell holder. Cabela's sells a kit that has almost everything you need. It comes with the auto prime for both large & small primers & auto disc, scale, etc.

You'll need dies. I use the 4 die carbide set.

Digital caliper. Mandatory IMO. $10 at Harbor Freight.

Inertial bullet puller. Also mandatory. They're the ones that look like a plastic hammer.

Well I have to brag on me lee turret too. I recieved it yesterday with the auto prime and auto disc and i am very impressed. I loaded 300 rds yesterday in what seemed like no time, and every time i checked the auto disc powder measure it was dead nuts.

I did have one glitch in getting my turret set up, but it wasn't the press. I set up a turret for .40 S&W, but every time I actuated the Auto Disk the insert tube in the riser jammed, tight. I would have to take it all down and remove the die from the riser with vise grips and channel locks. After a few attempts, and a vocabulary lesson for anyone in earshot, I finally noticed that the moving insert in the powder through expanding die was defective. The opening was off center and drilled at an angle, causing it to jam on the riser tube. Once I figured that out I set up a 9mm turret instead and everything worked fine.

If I had never tried to use that .40 die with the Auto Disk I never would've known about the defective insides. Using a funnel it would never have come to light. Fortunately I had just bought that die set last Saturday at Cabela's and they exchanged it no questions asked.

A Classic Turret kit is up next for me. I have a hand-me-down RCBS JR3 single which is fine for priming and decapping but the turret will make the reloading process much quicker.

Love my LCT also

I've had a Lee Single Stage for about 2 years and while I was home 'convalescing" with a serious shoulder injury I took the time to reload left-handed to complement my off-hand shooting practice. Loooonnnggg process. So I bought the LCT and got it installed about a week ago, single-armed even. After getting it set up and adjusted I finally sat down the other day and used it to start my physical therapy :) Absolutely a joy to reload. I only have 50 rds through it but the ease of use is amazing. I set it up and 'ran it.' It was like a Ronco product - Set it and Forget it! The Adjustable Charge Bar on the powder measure is very accurate, the indexing is dead nuts on and it's just darned easy and cheap to boot. Still can't figure out the purpose of the little chain that came with it but I love mine.

Oh yeah, one minor issue: If you put the Adjustable Charge Bar on backwards it'll dump powder everywhere :) I'm not one much on reading instructions!

HouSheepdog I think the chain drive is for mounting the powder measure on a Lee Progressive. I was very impressed with my CCT too.

Housheepdog,
Yup, this is a great press. I should give you a heads up on the charge bar. Some powders, when loading really small charges, like 3 grs, will not reliably feed thru it. I think it builds up static.
