I need .936" i.d. low profile gas block for use with a 22" bull barrel and rifle length free float tube...

I'm seeing some described as "micro" and don't know exactly what that means.

Also, I'm seeing an even split between steel and aluminum....

I'm not concerned about the weight so I'm guessing steel would be better, but thought I better ask the question.

There isn't nearly as much selection for the .936 i.d. gas blocks, which is good for me, as it makes the selection a little easier. This is a budget bench rest build for me.... (flat top with optics only... no irons), so I don't want to drop $75 on a gas block.

Maybe adding a bipod, attached to the tube later.

Thanks for any info. or advise.

I would be glad to send you one. All of my .936 barrels have adjustable blocks now, so I have a few blocks sitting around.
I have steel clamp style and aluminum with set screw. all have a top rail, so they are not micro for fitting under a handguard.

The cheapest LP gas block I have is a standard one with the sight cut off and sanded smooth. That is if you have one.

Cemetary... that's very gracious of you.

I almost pulled the trigger on a top rail one from Midway, but wasn't sure if it would clear the tube. I don't think it has to go under it, but should not come back too far.

To me, the clamp on is more appealing, as poking set screws into the barrel seams a little crude. Having used both, do you have a preference?

I'd be happy to take you up on the steel clamp on one.

What length tube are you using? The clamp-on blocks usually are not 'micro' and will not fit under a common-diameter FF tube. Don't worry about the indentations in the barrel if you use the screw-set type...just gently countersink holes after using the set screws to mark the location on your bull barrel. I use Loctite for a little insurance when installing the screws.

Harris makes an excellent quality bipod stud kit that can be installed without having to remove and index the FF tube...requires nimble fingers but saves a lot of time and hassle for less than ten dollars.

Why are we making an automatic bench rest rifle?
I have an automatic F class rifle, which is plenty accurate, but it is really aggravating the way it throws my prepped brass in the weeds. My excuse is that I had an AR that was not doing anything, so a long barrel and 20 MOA scope mount were about all it took.

I'm not the OP, however I owned a factory Bushmster Varmint that would shoot factory winchester 40gr varmint from walmart (40 round white box) less than .25". It was boring accurate, I can see a use for them for plinking off the bench, or setting up on one of them prairie dog hunts out west.
