Low Recoil 9mm Pistols.

I tried different ways of gripping. It doesn't help.

Interestingly I don't have a problem with .357 magnum out of a 6" 686.

bg226, it does not sound like you are recoil-shy, which would be the primary reason to go to a heavier gun. Just try other makes until you find one that fits you better than a BHP.

Glock 17C is the first centerfire gun I pull out when I take a new shooter to the range. I've had 5' tall women handle it without complaint. The comp really kills any muzzle flip.

Something like a soft rubber Hogue grip might help too on your pistol or whichever one you get. It seems to make shooting my CZ-75B downright comfy.

I have two 9mms. One's a Star B and the other is a CZ75B. The '75 has a big beavertail which allows me to get my hand up close to the bore centerline. That and the weight of it helps make it feel very easy to shoot. I notice the same thing with my CZ40B, which is very tame to shoot for a .40S&W.

Try a Glock 17C or 19C. These are compensated 9mm's.

Can't say I've shot the 17C, but I own, shoot and frequently carry a 19C.

The recoil is low, but the noise level is high, due to the gases that escape from the compensation ports.

SIG 226ST 9mm shoots like a toy cap gun

After a few rounds you won't even notice the recoil...especially with Remington 115gr. ammo.

A Ruger P89 or P85 is about as close to a .22lr in recoil you're going to find in a centerfire pistol. This platform was originally designed with the 10mm in mind, so there's plenty of weight. Even the P90 in .45 is cream puff to shoot.

I've heard that before, but as much as Bill Ruger over-designed his guns, I don't think he would consider putting a 10mm into a P89 sized pistol. He definitely upscaled the P89 to make the P90 (chambered in .45ACP) and while he boasted that the P90 would handle the 10mm, he made at least one comment during an interview implying that he wasn't much of a fan of the 10mm and never intended to chamber a pistol in that caliber.

Springfield 1911 A1 loaded in 9mm. Love mine. It almost feels like Im shooting a 22lr.

Like you, I assume, I very much dislike the way a 9mm recoils. (But I love the .45 and don't mind, even enjoy, the .357 (mag and sig), the .454, etc. ) I can't quite put my finger on what it is, but I haven't shot too many 9mm guns I like. One of them that I really liked was the walther p-38. It definitely isn't very "tactical" but if you get a chance to try one out, you might just like it.

BG, I too have not heard many muzzle flip issues with a BHP. My XD9 seems to be fine in this area. Still, IMHO, the BHP is probably the finest 9mm ever made.

I have found that for me there is quite a big difference in recoil between various 9mm’s. Part of the reason for that is that I am a woman with smaller hands. By far the lowest recoil I have found so far is a hard to find and out of production Beretta. It’s a 92 Compact Model L Type M, it is a single stack that was made with small-handed law enforcement in mind. Out of the double stacks I’ve shot my favorite is the CZ 75. I have yet to shoot a 1911 chambered in 9mm but am dying to get my hands on one.

I own in 9mm---
Walther P1
Arcus 94
SA XD service 9
SA XD sub 9
G34
G19
Star BM
Steyr M9

Arcus 94 has the least felt recoil IMO, probably also the best ergo's also. It's too bad IMO the public didn't realize what a great pistol this is.

1911

My STI Trojan full size 1911 is 9mm is a pleasure to shoot.....my GF has basically taken it away from me:uhoh: Even with Doubletap 147 gr +p's....ist a real pussycat.

Um do you have the MarkIII Browning in black, if so thats the worst 9mm ever and to help you out i will buy it from you if you want. I am looking to buy one:) for my first pistol, thats mine not my dads

try a glock, for some od reason i love how a glock 17 feels in 9mm, its like a wet dream

ps try holding tighter, also are you sure its not the noise, try wereing the foam ear plugs, with the ear muffs over, this may help you. try it, I know it helped me, i hate indoor ranges, too loud

pss the CZ is based off the BHP
