So I'm looking at getting a nice higher power scope for checking accuracy of my AR loads (as well as throwing it on a FP10 308 once I eventually get that gun) and I did some measurements on my AR to determine the scope rings height. One thing I can't figure out though is what "(measured from base of ring to bottom of scope tube)" means. Does this mean from the very bottom of the rings if say set on a table or does it mean where the top of the rail will be inside the rings, basically the web of the rings?

Not sure why I didn't think of this before but I whooped out the ol calipers and did some measurements of the picture on Midway along with some maths and it appears that, at least with the rings I was looking at, they measure from top of the rail to bottom of the tube area. I'm assuming all the stuff at Midway is measure this way. It sure would be nice if they were more specific in this regard.

If a mod wants to go ahead and delete this, by all means, but I figure it would be handy reference for others to know at least how Midway measures their rings.
