Lpvo for 45-70 hunting rifle?

Mmm good, I guess you have to head shoot them with that .45-70 to save the meat. :)

Why dija haft to go an do that? Now I'm hungry for SURF! regards

Steiner has a decent one and not too expensive. Clarity is better than others in its price range, at least to my eyes.

Agreed.. I own the PX4I (1x4) the glass is excellent for the $$$ but they seem to have jumped way up in price since I bought one.

have the older VX Hog 1-4X on my 350 Legend AR and IMHO it's a goldilocks for a LPVO hunting scope very light yet rugged.

I have one of these too and its nice except the writing in the reticle.

Hey all,
Hope everyone's feeling good.
I'm looking for a reasonable scope for a single shot cva 45-70 scout. I have a 3-9×??? Bushnell on there now but it's not clear at all.
I want something reasonably clear, robust and not super expensive . must be 1" tube to fit the 1 piece scope mount I bought.

I know Leupold makes nice stuff, I see some versions in the $300 range and others that look similar for $1500.

I'm no rifle expert and I don't do much with optics but there are no iron sights on this gun and I'm planning to hunt with it this year. I don't want to cheap out and need to replace it soon and I don't want to blow too much $$. I'm not a snob about clarity but I want something respectable.

What do yall think?
Thanks in advance .

Don't shoehorn yourself into sub optimal glass because you have a mount of a certain size. It's worth looking at the 30mm options.

FWIW, I have two Vortex Razors that have seen a fair amount of abuse on the 3 gun circuit, and have never lost zero. Tough as nails. That includes me falling hard onto a slung rifle on a slippery hard wood trailer floor. Unslung to shoot some long range steel and zero was good.

There are some great options in the 5-600 dollar range as well.

Another vote for a Leupold 1-4, I’ve got one on my old marlin .35 REM. They’re not a true 1X like the Nightforce 1-8 that I love on my AR, BUT you really don’t need true 1X for hunting and a 1” leupold or similar is going to be a lot smaller/lighter.

If we can get away from the 1" tube restriction, there are a few low cost options.

Vortex Ranger/PST 1-4x at around $250. I love this scope, but hate the exposed non locking turrets.

Burris RT6 at around $350.

Vortex PST II at... what? $600. This is a rock solid option.

Steiner P4xi with P3tr reticle at around $500 used. I wouldn't buy one new. This is a very nice scope. This is what I'd be running if I wasn't running ACOGs.

Another solid option would be the trijicon 1-4x.

Just to add to the options lists. Skinner sights has contracted production of their own LPVO. Don't know who made them for Skinner but he warranty's them. Just another option. (Lever gun focused optic).
