I've recently purchased the Lyman Universal Case Trimmer with the adapter that you can chuck into a drill (I didn't buy it from Cabelas, but here's a picture of it from their site http://www.cabelas.com/tools-accessories-lyman-universal-case-trimmer-power-adapter-2.shtml). All the drills I have are really big and while they will technically work on this trimmer, they are far from an elegant solution. My caliper claims that the part of the shaft that you chuck the drill onto is ~1/4". What are some options? Power screw driver...anybody know what size chuck they have? Small Drill with some sort of cradle? What's everybody else doing with these?

I got the same setup. Here's how I do it simply and cheaply.....

First you need to screw the trimmer to a nice piece of 1x6 so you can clamp it to your desk top....

Then you go buy a 1/4" drive bit for hex headed screws and put that in a drill motor. I found one with a magnet inside...

Then you don't have the weight of the drill motor hanging on your trimmer. You simply pick up the drill motor and place it on the hex drive. The shaft and socket easily fit together and will even work at a slight angle. I prefer a cordless drill, but any drill motor will do just great. If you can find a piece of foam to support the motor at the correct height, that's even better.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. I already have it mounted to a piece of 1x6 so I'm good to go there, I just need a much smaller drill. Foam is a great idea as a cradle. Time for a trip to harbor freight for a small cheap drill.
