Just a side note, if anyone is looking for an inexpensive manual and you don't need data for the newest powder and cartridges Midway USA has Lyman 49 on sale for only $9.55.

If one has the 49th edition and fires rounds that were created in 1925 or before (the most "modern" round I fire is .270), is there any need to purchase the 50th edition? Any interesting articles in the front? If not, perhaps I will purchase the 50th edition on clearance when the 51st edition comes out.

I would say your good with 49 orp. It covers everything I load as well.
