I took my new M&P 9 to the range for the first time today. I'm not a marksman but it's a new gun and I had a variety of ammo with me so I figured I'd share.

My first gun was a S&W SVE40 (I think, sold it) followed by a Glock 22 (sold it) followed by S&W 5906 (never gonna sell) and Sig P226 (ditto). I also have a few 1911s in 9mm and 45, but I found my stash to be sorely lacking in a polymer frame. Checked the boards, gathered opinions, handled some, drooled at LGS and gunshows and settled on the M&P9.

I had heard the trigger was suboptimal but for the most part, the M&P9 seemed to have great reviews. Couldn't wait.

First, loaded up the 17rd mag with WWB and set the target at 8yd. First couple of shots were a bit off, but then settled in nicely. The trigger was different. Not horrible and the reset is kinda invisible but discernable.

The rest of the targets are at 7 yards (like I said, I'm no marksman)

First is American Eagle Flat Point 9mm 147 GR

Then came Lawman 115Gr TMJ

Finally I loaded up 5 WWB 115Gr FMJ

And for the finale was a 25 yd set of 5 with WWB (Don't ask where the first two rounds went) but I finished strong

More concerned with reliability than accuracy. How did it feel and shoot? Details man!

I have a Glock 19. I like pretty much everything about it, but as much as I have tried, I am failing at adapting to its grip angle and grow increasing tired of shooting high. I was going to replace it with a alloy frame something that could be carried cocked and locked, and pointed better for me, but another polymer framed striker fired pistol could be considered, as long as it isn't DA/SA, and as long as it's reliable.

Not a single hiccup. I fired 200 rounds today and no FTF, no FTE with any of the three brands.

I can see why people complain about the trigger as it felt stiff but it didn't pull me off target. It's rumored to smooth out over time. We'll see. Many others opt for the apex trigger kit, but I wont bother.

It has the three dot sights which are fine for me too.

Overall impression. Love it. Reliable and accurate.

I have a MP compact that I acquired recently that has run flawlessly. It is a good gun. Started out looking for a 26 and ended up with the Smith. The Smith fit my hand a lot better than the 26. Really like the M&P. Might even pick up a full size down the road.

PSA is out of stock of just about all M&P's. The price could be $59.99, but doesn't matter if you do not have the inventory.
