On or around 1993 I bought an M1 Carbine at a local gun show. It was and still is a prime example considering it's age. The barrel is stamped 11-43 Inland a division of General Motors. As much as I can tell it's correct. Last I checked CMP had no complete carbines available. They look to be getting quite rare.
At this point I've considered taking it to the same local gun show tomorrow and selling it. Problem is, I have only a vague idea of it's worth or what i should ask for it. I've checked on gun trader/ gun broker and only came across two examples similar to mine but the asking price was a bit steep IMO at $1250 and $2000 respectively. Probably not many takers at those numbers.
I don't have to sell the carbine but I would use the money to finance another firearm I've been wanting.
If i take this one with me tomorrow, what would be a fair asking price?
