On or around 1993 I bought an M1 Carbine at a local gun show. It was and still is a prime example considering it's age. The barrel is stamped 11-43 Inland a division of General Motors. As much as I can tell it's correct. Last I checked CMP had no complete carbines available. They look to be getting quite rare.

At this point I've considered taking it to the same local gun show tomorrow and selling it. Problem is, I have only a vague idea of it's worth or what i should ask for it. I've checked on gun trader/ gun broker and only came across two examples similar to mine but the asking price was a bit steep IMO at $1250 and $2000 respectively. Probably not many takers at those numbers.

I don't have to sell the carbine but I would use the money to finance another firearm I've been wanting.

If i take this one with me tomorrow, what would be a fair asking price?

PiCs would be helpful to help establish value.

I would be very careful about calling it correct unless you've had it examined by an expert. Lots and lots of humped carbines out there at the moment.

WOW... photo bucket really turned into a PITA. Here are a few pics. The receiver has a 7 digit serial # beginning with a 3. There are is no stamp or cartouch (?) on the stock whatever. Best I can tell the barrel and receiver have never been refinished but I can't be sure. The bayonet lug has no wear that I can tell.
Now here is something I've never noticed before. The barrel band has "J.M.O" stamped on the left side.
The sights are adjustable for wind and elevation. They have been dead on for me from day one. Safety is a lever at the front of the trigger guard and the mag release is a push tab just in front of that on the RH side.

The carbines manufatures is stamped on the receiver right above the serial number.

The adjustable rear sight is covering it up.

Get down under there with a good light and find out if the receiver is marked Inland too.

Here is a serial number list on who made what during WWII.

As for a price, take the best offer you get from a dealer and times it times at least 6, probably more.

Here is more on parts stamps.

LOL... never thought to look under the sight but yes the manufacture is plainly marked on the receiver....Inland.
The more I handle this fellow the more I think it will stay home tomorrow. Maybe I'll pick up a box of ammo and take it to the range in stead.

I do that all the time. I decide to sell then i play with it then decide to keep it.

Thanks for that link RC. I've learned more about this little guy in the past two hours than in the past 20 years. Looks like it's an oval cut pot belly M1 stock with rebuild proof marks on the pistol grip just like the pics. Never noticed that before. Walnut for sure.

This is exactly why I asked THR.
