M1 Carbine Mag Pouch

How do the mag pouches that fit on the M1 Carbine stock attach to the stock? I am going to order one and I was just wondering how they attach to the stock. Thanks.

The real WWII deal slips over the stock and just fits.

They were orginally made to fit over the M-1 Garand or Springfield riflemans cartridge belt and had a snap on the inside of the loop.

Later in the war they went to a smaller loop without a snap that fit the GI pistol belt better, but wouldn't fit over the carbine stock.

You have to be sure and get the right one with the big loop.
