I detail stripped my Garand to clean all the cosmoline out. Now I'm trying to reassemble the trigger group, and I can't get the darned trigger pin back in! I have the hammer spring housing facing the correct side, but the trigger pin won't fully seat.

Help!

Cameron

Cameron,

With the hammer down, you have to grip the housing in your left palm with the meat of your thumb over the back of the trigger/sear and the fingers under the bottom of the housing. Squeeze the unit (Pressure to the back of the trigger/sear.) to force the pivot point of the hammer down and forward enough to let the pin slide home.

Best,

I've been pushing down on the trigger/sear assembly, and it just isn't lining up the holes for the trigger pin to slide home.

On mine I have to put a LOT of pressure on the trigger guard to get it into place. I have push down with one hand on the guard and pull back on a dowel through the guard with the other to get it into place.

You do have the trigger guard in the "closed" position don't you??
