I appreciate the advice. I know it is a great deal but my question was if I wanted to come out of my "Warsaw Pact mentality" with rifle collecting.
No my buddy isn't an "idiot", he's impulsive. Here is the deal. He has a lot of money and sometimes buys guns on an eager whim. He got the M1A in 2005 on an impulse-buy, shot it every now and then, but then got bored with it. He recently bought one of those M4 Benellis (the USMC kind) and he is suddenly in a "shotgun phase."
We don't shoot rifles every weekend. He estimated the only times he actually shoots his M1A is when he goes to private land (about three times a year) with me. So he sees this as a win-win, he is getting some cash for it, yet he can still shoot it with me if he ever feels like it. If he sells it on gunbroker, its gone forever and he can't so much as touch it again.
Yes it is definitely a "friend price" ! I'm buying it.
Doesn't a new addition to the arsenal give you that holiday cheer?
