Hello, gang. A while back I posted a thread discussing potentially obtaining an M6 survival rifle. Well, I hunted GunBroker like mad for quite some time and lucked out on a fantastic deal for a lightly used Springfield/CZ made one.

I shot it today and frankly, I am in love:

At 25 yards, the gun put the .22 rounds into a 1 1/2” group and that’s with me never using the unique trigger of the rifle before and firing off the wobbly back end of my 4-wheeler. The peep sight is quite decent and shot to POA perfectly at this distance.

Not bad at ALL for this style of rifle. I’m sure with some load testing and more practice this gun could cloverleaf.

The .410 shotgun mode was a hoot. Pretty spicy in the lightweight M6, and hits with authority. I plan on carrying some buckshot and birdshot loads in the buttstock ammo storage compartment for emergency defensive use against snakes and bigger critters. This is along with the 15 .22LR rounds also stored in the stock.

I used some paracord I had lying around and lashed an M1 carbine sling to the rifle. Works well and fits the military theme nicely.

The gun carries beautifully and is so short and compact, and is a blast to shoot. I am IMPRESSED. I like it much better than I thought I would. I love it!

Take care, gang.

I like the offerings from these people. If I got one it would be a 22 mag over 410. The 410 barrel has different choke tubes available. Or maybe a 357 over 410.

I don’t.

Not a fan of the stock design. It deviates just a bit too much from the original USAF issued M6.

Additionally, the parkerized finish on the Springfield is not only more rust resistant than the blued TPS guns, it’s also historically correct.

Also, TPS sure didn’t seem interested in answering any of my phone calls or emails when I tried to talk to them to ask about their rifles.

The Springer was an easy choice after that.

Can I ask how much you paid for your M6?
Hopefully you got a much better deal than what they are listed for on GB. $750-$1,250 seems a little high for a single shot, not like it's a Ruger no.1.

That CZ is a double shot.

The fact it has CZ marked on the side adds value to CZ-itus folks.

How about a pic of how it folds in half with the trigger guard removed?

Here you go!

The gun once folded tucks smartly into the compartment of my 4-wheeler. I think I found a new ride around snake/squirrel gun!

Shot it again today and it did just great. Also used it when exploring for arrow heads in the creek. The sling attachment near the muzzle keeps the barrel from getting caught on limbs.

Update:

I grouped the M6 with wrapped barrels at 25 yards and indeed in fact yes, the POI shifted upwards for the .22 barrel a good 4 inches.

I decided to unwrap the barrels and now just have half the .410 barrel wrapped. That’s the barrel that gets hot anyway, the .22 one could never get warm enough to be an issue even firing as fast as possible.

Hopefully this cures the POI shift. I have heard this is a very common problem when wrapping both barrels, even loosely like I tried.

I’ll group it again tomorrow morning and will report back. Thanks!
