Ordered and paid for a model 70 winchester classic in May. Great article on the rifle in American Rifleman, October 2004 shows the guns.
Is it normal to wait sooo long? :banghead:

I heard there was a 6month wait on Tikka T3's when I was looking for them.

I think that's way too long, but not unheard of, to wait for a gun.

i wouldn't wait on any common factory produced gun - except for the nics checks, which for me seems to average about 2 days.

if a company hypes up their gun, and gets me to want it, the store better have it, or be able to get it within the week, or i'll not have it... when i decide its time to buy a rifle, i want it now, and if company 'a' can't get it to me now, company 'b' it is, then...

I wouldn't wait 6 months just to get a T3 in 308win, if I did have to wait that long I would have stuck with my Win M70.

Luckily I found a used T3 that looked brand new.

That's the problem with so many different flavors, I suppose. One week, a production run of Stealths, the next .375 safaris, the next push feed WSSMs, etc. Still, there should be some in the pipeline unless you ordered a very exotic or limited production rifle.

Something is a bit aromatic here. I would be inclined to ask a) if alternate suppliers have them in stock, and b) for a copy of the order acknowledgment from the supplier. Better yet, check with other suppliers, round up a couple options, and tell your supplier he has 14 days to produce or refund your dough.

If nobody else has them, Winchester may have taken a page from the Ruger book and isn't going to build them until the hype machine has generated the orders.

Wow. That's a long time to wait on a Winchester Model 70 in my opinion. You could have had a high end custom rifle built in that amount of time. Only you can say if it is worth the wait or not.
