Mag prices if AWB II passes

Obama voted to ban anything that held 5+ rounds. See Senate bill 1195 in IL

A federal ban is a bit different than a state ban. Under a state ban, one can move or sell the restricted items outside of the jurisdiction of that state to retain some viable economic interest. Under a federal ban, that is not possible, thus triggering a takings clause problem.

If Obama wins and starts to round up the guns then the next thing will be round up the people he doesn't like. Hitler was a socialist too.

I really hate this kind of defeatist attitude everyone has. We haven't had a new AWB yet. Let's fight like hell to keep it that way instead of moaning about it...

Hitler was a socialist too.

And he was a charismatic speaker like the Obomination. His first act was an complete weapons ban from the population he intended to exterminate. And his past writings told everyone just what was coming.

But the Sheeple in this country don't seem to care about the Obomination's past at all. I just don't get the ignorance.

Nope.

Absolutely not.

PS I already did that after the AWB expired. But I am buying a Saiga 12 prior to 1-20-09 (carefully avoiding politics)

I don't think it matters or not if you buy now before 1-20-09. If there is a ban of all semi auto rifles and handguns, what makes you think that what you buy now, is going to be grandfathered in?

First off it'd be tied up in the courts for the next 5-6 years minimum most likely, if not outright rejected.

The only way to try to make a ban fly is to grandfather existing legal items.

The 2007 AWB II attempt had almost the exact same grandfathering as 94 AWB I.

Maybe Bill Ruger will rise from the dead and HELP THEM write a new AWB.

LOL.

No honest man needs more than one life to write a gun ban.

Bingo. Why anticipate defeat? This time around, we're all ready for it. We'll fight like hell against it. I'm sick of running from this crap.

Everyone want to know what the new AWB will be like? It's going to stink. That's what it's going to be like. I don't want no stinkin' AWB, so I'm going to fight against it. All of you should too.

In my attempt to avoid politics instead of stating as soon as someone gets into the office I gave the change date of the office. I realize that it would most likely takes months to years to pass a new AWB.

In the US it is extremely rare for a gun control bill not to allow someone to keep the firearms/magazines/bayonet lugs etc.... that they already possess. Worked with NFA 34, GCA 68, FOPA 86 and when they added streetweepers to the NFA registry.

Politicly it is much harder to pass a bill that takes property away from people especially firearms.

Also legally if the .gov takes your property they have to compensate you for it. Since our goverment is already deeply into the red, it would become difficult to persuade congress and the public to spend the money to compensate people.

The bills that I REALY hate are the ones that allow you to keep your property till you die but then it must be turned in, it cannot be transferred/gifted/bequested to anyone.:cuss::fire:

As always I can be wrong.

If the Democrats hold a super majority or something close to it, they will be able to pass anything they want to without much hinderance. There are always a few Republicans who side with the gun control issue.

There is NOTHING within the law that you can do about it if they want to and the election goes the way I expect it to. Even if McCain somehow won, you would still have a problem with veto overrides. Yes, I'm pretty pessimistic.

As far as grandfathering goes, this is likely, but they can create a registration process and annnual fees that will eventually weed most of them out. You should have looked at the PA law that did not make it very far that their gov supported..... there was an annual fee per gun which was like $20 or so each. Even at that price, I couldn't afford it. That is for every firearm.

As far as mag goes, the 10-round+ mags will probably go up in price if Obama is elected because dealers will prey on the fear that is being exhibited here. If an AWB is introduced, expectto see a significant price increase. One proposal was to serialize each mag, that would be a problem as the old ones would probably be restricted. You got it, mag registration.

some of you over-pessimistic types should hurry up and buy your sky-proof helmets. Those are running low in stock as well.

Or better yet, do me a favor and sell me whatever bannable items you have. That way you'll make money off of them, instead of watching the feds cart them away to the metal scrapper. I'm in the neighborhood for an AR, and a WASR-10 AK. I'll take AK mags as well. PM me.

I already have 15 USGI-spec aluminum teflon whatever mags. I'm not one for the magpul mags, but their followers are unbelievably great. I need to get another five or ten AK steel mags soon, though, if only to keep even with the number of AR mags I have.

After the ban, I may look you up to sell them to ya. Hope you have a big wallet or checking account... something over 6 figures will probably cover it.

This constant assault the MSM is waging against conservatives is what causes this defeatist attitude IMO..........even if you don't watch TV much the bias of these Marxist fanatics creeps into your subconscious.

I plan on bitching and complaining like a big whining baby until the Great Ban takes place, then I'll scurry desparately to buy up and hoard everything I can at any ridiculous price out of fear that I won't have another opportunity ever in my life.

No, come to think of it, I'll be the same sane and intelligent man I always was. I fought registrations and bans before, and I'll fight them again. I don't give up so easily. The whining and crying babies by the side of the road will reap the benefit as dedicated and capable men and women continue to fight the battles for our civil rights.

If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.
