I question weather Washington/Congress has the will to pass a ban. I mean, they can't even decide if they should reduce taxes, increase them, or if they stay the same. The only decision they can make is to enact painful default policies if they can't agree on anything. And they may end up enacting the defaults because they're incapable of doing anything better.
I think politicians just want to be perceived as doing something for the public good even if they don't have much support for the actual policy. So they'll put the AWB up for vote, they'll argue it until it gets diluted in several key areas, it MAY pass but will lack any teeth, and then the politicians will all high five each other for a job well done. By that I mean Dems will feel proud they got their toothless law passed, the GOP will revel in diluting the law to the point where it may as well not exist.
And all they'll have done (best case for AWB supporters) is reduce mag capacity a little (at best) but with so many loopholes its as much a joke as California's current ban is right now.
I have a bullet button on my AW and there are many ways around the ban on high cap mags. A BB can be removed as needed. I dunno, what's the point?? I think everyone is paranoid. When I went to my local shop the other day they said they sold out every AR or AK variant they had, and the mfg won't pick up their phones when the shop calls to ask about when stock levels will replenish.
I am curious to hear from those who may disagree and why.
