Question ... I was at a show this past wkend and saw some ProMag's for the LCP in 6 round for $15. 10 round for $20. and 15 round for $25. Also they had factory 6 round mags for $20.

Anyone have any experience with any of these ProMag's? Or should I stick with the factory mags???

I've had poor luck with this brand. On any gun meant to protect my assets, I prefer its magazines to come from the factory that built the gun, the one exception being Mec-Gar.

I'm not a died in the wool factory mag person...for instance, I don't favor any factory mag for a 1911...but when talking about ProMags, what I normally advise is that they are great for practicing Misfeed/Malfunction drills.

Pro Mag is just barely better than no mag, metal deformed too easily on some cheap AR mags I had briefly durring the "Ban". Bought a used S&W model 59-2 that had 1 S&W and 2 Pro Mag magazines, had to keep readjusting (bending) the feed lips. If you want your LCP to work get factory magazines.

You must mean with the exception of COLT, no? If not, please explain...

Actually I don't. I based a lot of my decisions on the writings of Hilton Yam of 10-8 Performance. He has the time and money to test all the mags out there plus has the feedback from friends in the spec op community. The only additional magazine I'm comfortable with, beside the CMC PowerMag and the Tripp CobraMag, is the Metalform mags with the convex followers...and that is based on testing from 1911 builders.

Colt has been building their 1911s and mags the same way forever, folks have just come to expect the loose tolerances that they are spec'ed to. I don't care for the timing of the feed lips on the Colt mags any more than I like the way that the frame contour lines of a Colt have to be straightened above the trigger guard/dustcover

I'd try one and see how it ran, and make a choice based on facts.
At the worst you have a malfunction-prone mag for clearance drills at the range.

Thank You All for the info ... buyer beware on anything but factory mags

They're a crap-shoot. I have one for my P95. It always fed fine, but almost never held the slide open after the last round. Eventually I replaced the follower with a Ruger factory follower and that issue went away. I still probably wouldn't trust my life to it, but I use it at the range and it still has never jammed on me.

They are absolute garbage and should be treated as such. I was given two new in box for my HK P7M8, both fired first round fine but every round afterwards was a jam. I'll use them as a training tool since I teach ccw classes but otherwise they suck. Honestly, if you replaced the spring with a 10%+ Wolf mag spring, they may work but why go thru the hassle. On another note ProMag could care less as I have complained to them numerous times about their crap!

Pro-Mag = money down the toilet!

I can't understand how they stay in business. Do people buy them and never use them assuming they will work if needed?
