Love my Mak. In fact I was prepping brass (cutting down 9x19) yesterday to load up for a range trip. I bought 1000 Berry's 95gr bullets 2 weeks ago. Just need more brass!

I don't carry mine because its finish is so pristine and I'd hate to wear it any. I should probably get another one to carry. I love shooting mine (also a Bulgarian) and handle it quite well. There isn't anything about it I dislike at all.

I did recently acquire a P-64, and it's worn enough that I'd carry it. I just haven't tried it out yet. I do not expect it to be as nice at the range as the PM, though.
I have both a p64 and a makarov both are excellent weapons and extremely reliable and accurate. The p64 is more of a point and shoot with its sites but still capable of tight groups at 10 yds. It is different than the mak. Mine has hard double action pull while the single is 2lbs or less. Scary lite! I picked it up used at a local ps for 150. Out the door and based on what I know and have read the hammer springs might have been replaced. Wolfsprings has them for about $8.00. Bit of advice if your hand is on the larger side watch your grip! I have to let my pinkie wrap under the mag. I've been shooting for close to forty years, everything from magnum handguns (including desert eagles in 44 mag) to 417 nitro express drillings and almost everything in between and I got my first slide bite from a p64. All in all both are great weapons. There is a reason that the Warsaw Pack carried Makarovs since 1958. The Polish did not like the Russians telling them what to do. in addition after 1945 they had access to the Walther patent as a lot were made in the Random plant during the war. When the Russians designed the Makarovs, the Polish designed the p64. Same cartridge to completely different weapons.

Just a reminder that a very limited number of Bulgys were produced in .380 Auto.
Armslist TN now lists a 'Miltex' available, in middle or east TN.

JonB: Beautiful weapon and photo.

Poppy42: Those Polish P64s are very cool guns, if one can get used to the heavy DA pull and firm recoil.
You might know that the Polish P-83 is a good bit better, also very rugged/reliable (bluing not as good).

Thanks guys! My friend owns a Radom P-64 and boy, it's a snappy little one. :)

The double-action trigger on it is most uncomfortable to use. I hear that many simply carry these with the safety off and manually cock the hammer when drawing. That's probably what I'd do if I carried such a gun. It is smaller than the Makarov but not by all that much, and holds two less rounds. The double-action on my Makarov is not what I would call good, probably around 12 lbs and somewhat gritty and mushy, but it is like a Colt Python compared to that P-64 I fired!! I truly thought there was something wrong with the gun when I first shot it. And like someone else mentioned, the single-action pull was very nice! So strange why the Poles made these with such bad DA triggers. Neat and accurate guns otherwise.
