Not to be that guy but do you have any other sources to substantiate any of this? No offense, but a drive by, first time posting isn't particularly credible as a source.

Well you just were. Even If it isn't 100% factual, let it rest. There is no good reason to make this story up.

Or call Don and fact check it.

A few red flags as well...

He spent a few years in prison, and upon release, he returned to the same house, with the same dogs?

And managed to carry a shotgun and a chair to the road?

Well Woody, you can use descriptive dictionaries, prescriptive, or refer to historic etymology. You said to look at the origins of the word and conveniently picked a later definition from 1755 which would be a descriptive definition like the ones you referred to disapprovingly. The known origin of the word goes back more than two centuries to 1506 to when it meant 'dockyard.'

The later bastardized (as you called it) use of the word was documented descriptively more than a half century later in 1579.

So collection of arms is just as valid as descriptive definitions.

I hate to be that guy too, but some folks make stuff up for no good reason at all.

I dont know how many guys in that city shoot themselves in the chest with a shotgun while sitting in a chair in the road with the police present, but that would make my local news if it happened here.
