While I have no doubt this guy was probably up to no good and did break the law.....

A 37mm Grenade launcher!

No such thing, a grenade launcher is 40mm. What this guy had was a 37mm flare launcher, perfectly legal and not even considered a firearm or even a weapon for that matter.

I own one myself actually and so can you, just order one online if you want! They are ridiculous and fun but a true grenade launcher they are not.

This is like underwear guy, except he was a wannabe, not a 'terrorist...what a jerk. The newsies are so anti-gun it only requires two guns to be a 'massive cache'. I wish the NJ PD had just capped this idiot, or let 'Jack Bauer' talk to him, earnestly.

First of all the News is always about spin. The juicier the more the viewership. You all missed the fact that he had 100s of rounds and 3 different guns. That is hardly massive, but what do I know?

The guy obviously not so bright. He wore a camo jacket over his dress, in the people's republic of NJ. That alone is enough to get you looked over by the cops. Military style jacket of any form qualifies for "suspicious" let alone a gun, so he was never going to get very far in NJ dressed like that. :D

As obviously dumb as he is, I doubt he was capable of doing very much damage at all to the military base.:neener:

The media is just feeding off the crap the police put on their plate. They are the ones that first mislabeled the item and started the hype.

I am sorry if you are a cop, but there are a lot of cops out there that dont' know jack, and will spin anything to make themselves look like they saved the world.

This guy was up to no good and at least one person noticed it and called LEO. So why are so many posts about mistakes made by ignorant (of guns)and (law).
The guy was an apparent felon in position of altered serial number guns, he's wearing a bullet proof vest for christ sake. Put him away and through the key's away as he's at least a want-a-be. As for his arsenal, I have more truck guns then he does, but all are legal.

Bohica... among others.

It's possible. Probably .50 Beo as mentioned, but it's certainly possible it was BMG.

if it was under his jacket it was either a .50bmg with a chopped barrel.....or some other smaller 50 cal round.....

wonder if it could be one of the few black powder conversions that have been made...

+1

Note that he has been wanted by the Navy for 8 years on the charge of desertion.

That makes him ineligible to have any of that stuff.

So yes, the typical media spin is on but we have to be careful to not get too worked up looking for an anti gun agenda here, this is a very bad guy who needed to be caught.
Until he is convicted he is legal own.
