And then there's the story about a guy deciding to punch the wife's ticket with a .357 mag. He shot her right smack dab in the middle of the forehead. The bullet, evidently a FMJ, slid right between the lobes of her brain and lodged just inside the skin at the back of her head. She survived, whether or not she was detrimentally effected I never heard.

There was the Baton Rouge, Louisiana incident with two cops and a perp in an apartment where the rookie female (Linda Lawrence) was killed and the other officer shot the perp multiple times (10) with including one round (near contact shot) that enter the top front center of his head and exited the back, bisecting the lobes in the process, and the guy kept fighting, but eventually died as a result of his wounds.

off duty out of state cop shot a bad guy last year with a NAA 22LR in the gut, took the bad guy 7 days to die.

you just never know if it will kill you or not till you get shot------ill pass

a sharp rock on a stick will kill you.

Seven days? Jeeeez.

The whole bird shot thing really is taken too far. No its not the most effective load in a shotgun. BUT that dosen't mean it CAN'T kill a person by a long shot.

A sad news story from a few years ago told of a high school age kid who was shot and killed by a crazy neighbor for walking on his lawn.

The crazy guy used a .410 with bird shot and hit the kid in the chest. I don't believe it was point blank but obviously not too far away; I would guess 10 to 30 feet.

BTW the guy with the .22 in his head was very drunk when hit....New Years! WOOT! And who know what he is like in life, perhaps being drunk is his natural state, or maybe just not that bright. So not noticing a .22 bullet under his scalp may not really be all that shocking.

I think we all know people like this. ;)

@ SSN Vet

Man i sware the EXACT same thing happened to me and my friends back in the day..he got shot about an inch from his eye and he played it off that he got poked by a tree branch..thats crazy man

Seven days? Jeeeez.

said the ER doctor said it was the worst gun shot wound he had scene i a long time, (not knowing what a long time is or how many he has scene)

just that it was 7 days later the guy died.

anyone interested in the felon case.

HE GOT 8 MONTHS IN COUNTY LOCK UP
:neener:

When I was young I had a 1" piece of arrow shaft in my finger that I didn't notice for months. It slipped deep under the skin which healed over. I started noticing a weird moving thing under my skin when I pushed on it, which at the time (Jr. High) was very cool. Eventually the doctor took my fun away.

Only two things I want to know;

1. How druck was this guy?

2. How far did the bullet travel before it hit him?

In 1971, the ATF raided the apartment of Kenyon Ballew. Durring the greatly botched raid, they shot Ballew right in the head with a .357 magnum. It messed him up, but didn't kill him. By the tales of enthusiasts of the .357, it should have blwn his brains out the back of his head. Last I heard a few years ago, Mr. Ballew was still alive.

James Brady was hit in the head with a .22 a bit closer, and we all know how he's been ever since.
I'm gonna catch H*ll for this but "How druck were you when you posted your reply?"

I'm so bad...just couldn't help myself! Sorry!:D

I may have mentioned this before, but we had a serial killer in this area (Google "Robert Yates" if you care) who would hire prostitutes and then shoot them point blank in the head with a .25 while they were performing their services. One of them thought he had punched her, ran off, and found out she had been shot five years or so later when she got an x-ray for some other reason. Of course, women who do that tend to be tougher than average just because it's so dangerous, but still it's amazing.

Christine Smith apparently was only grazed by the shot from Robert Yates and was actually treated for the wound on the night of the assault, 1 August 1998.

LESS than 2 years later, Smith contacted police on 12 May 2000 about the discovery of shrapnel in her head from an apparent gunshot, the discovery being made after x-rays were taken when she had been in an automobile crash.

She knew she had been hit with something, but didn't know what. She could not positively identify Yates as her attacker.

After the Munich Massacre the Israeli Mossad hit teams used 22lr hollow points with head shots to do away with the BGs. Round goes in and pin balls for awhile and totally deforms. Can't trace the bullet when removed.

Can't remember if they used revolvers or semi's but they always did a sweep after the job to be sure nothing was left behind.

Have seen people hurt with no blood and no knowledge of a wound until sometime later. But must admit this is pretty amazing.

A close friend experienced being shot with a .44 mag in the forehead from within the same room by her husband and was lucky enough to have it skip off.
Having seen the pictures I gotta say something was watching out for her that night.
