While I do agree that guns should remain locked up in a safe or lockbox ect. I don't understand the reason for the additonal trigger lock measure. A lockbox still gives quick access if need be. It also limits little hands.

I don't think there needs to be a law requiring this any more than we need a law making it illegal to let toddlers play with knives or to store gasoline in food cabinets.

Reason for change

Look at the political affiliation of the legislator and you will under stand the necessity of this law.
Senate Bill 268, introduced by State Senator Martha Scott (D-2), would undermine a citizen’s right to self-defense by imposing onerous storage requirements on Michigan gun owners, rendering firearms useless in self-defense situations.
Problem is that Michigan doesn't have a monoply on idiots, just unemployed.

Thanks Omaha, gave me an idea for a letter to the judiciary committee.

Chris in va.
That doesn't fly any more. Many Democrats have been introducing pro-2a legislature as of late.

That may be Chris but I am not aware of any Republican submitting any anti gun legislation.
