First, I want o thank Mannlicher partner of the foum for his help in the private messages section.

I buy a Manlicher Schoenauer 1908 carbine. The metal is 80 90 % and wood need a good cleaning and oiling. Everything points to a 8 x 56 MS caliber, but the guy that sell it to me told me that is a 8 mm mauser. The problem is that I live in Puebla, Mexico, the guy doesnt have any catridge to try it in the chamber, and now I'm confused.

I would like to keep it as original as posible, the but has a door, with cleaning rod inside. I'ts a beatiful arm. Here will be almost imposible to find 8 x 56 ammo, so 8 mm mauser woul be easier. I have a 243 barrel and the 243 fit the magazine a small modification must be done to make it work but i think it is posible to be done.

Once I clean it, I`ll post some pictures.

Any advice or help would be appreciated. Here are some pictures that my help.

I believe 8mm Mauser is usually marked 7.92 on firearms of this period. Unfortunately the only way to really tell is to do a chamber cast.

CH dies have everything

I just contact CH dies, and they have everything to make 8 x 56 MS from 30-06 brass.

I´m glad with these notice, so I will keep the rifle in it origanal chamber.
