I have seen many agree that the amsec & sturdy are equally great safe in protection----so you have the mom & pop, then you have the big corp.-----you guys still have me in the middle----a1abdj (the man who's opens/repairs/breaks into/service safe--if you was working for sturdy you might have the same answer that you are using now----same for sturdy

BIGGBAY90 - From a previous post

At the end of the day I was $4000 for an AmSec BF7250 loaded with door organizer, interior lighting, heat rod & an unneeded jewelry tray. I would pay an additional $250-$300 to have the safe picked up & delivered. So that is $4,250-$4,300 delivered, installed with all taxes. That is a great price on a loaded AmSec BF 7250 that not many others can get. As heeler knows the reason for that is that we have a huge local gun dealer that buys there safes by the truckload. The other AmSec dealers in town can't touch that price.

So for the Sturdy I am $3858 for the 72x48x27 (Deep) with an upgrade for a keyed S&G dail (so my kids & neighbors kids won't stand there & spin dail), an extra heavy duty 150lb shelf ($13), the extra $150 for burglary warranty, delivered with no tax. Since the Sturdy will be delivered to my driveway I will put it in the garage myself & bolt it down.

So at the end of the day $150 separates the two. For anyone else in a different town this may be a $500 difference. As Frank stated on a separate thread $4,000 for the BF7250 was a heck of a deal.

So then you ask why the Sturdy, given the fact the AmSec was only $150 more & installed? For me it came down to Terry at Sturdy. To have an owner of the company call me on a Saturday morning & talk to me for 30 minutes and again on Monday afternoon shows a deep level of committment to customer service. I can live with the decision to give a man like that my business. I am sure I will love the safe even though it doesn't look as nice

To me, it shows a man trying to make a sale. :D:D I doubt he will call much after you receive your safe, and he has your money.

But, I do think you made one of the better choices on a gun safe. And, I actually hope you and Terry never have to talk again. That would mean your new safe will be trouble free.

Keizer - I really feel I would be happy either way. Mine will be in garage. If it were going in the house i probably would have got the AmSec. Not an option since my house is too small.

BIGGBAY90 - you should check out the AmSec prices from our shop down here. It may help you make a decision. You could probably buy & ship and still save. If interested PM me & I will give you there number.

You're wrong.

A month or two after I bought my safe I had a question about bolting it down so I sent an email. A day later I got a response asking me if Terry got in touch with me yet. When I said no they said he would be calling me shortly. He did, and spent a half hour or so on the phone with me answering every question I had.

Triumph ---if see the prices in ny you will see i will never get that deal that you got----but which price are you talking about amsec or sturdy----YOUR SHOP(I THOUGHT YOU BROUGHT A STURDY SAFE)

BIGGBAY90-

I was referring to the AmSec Price. I have a local dealer in Houston that will probably beat just about any deal you can find on an AmSec. Unless Frank wants to sell you one at cost. Anyway, if you are interested PM me & I will flip you their phone #.

Even with freight their price will save you $.

I've had many very positive interactions with Terry at Sturdy.

Nothing wrong with the safe, just questions on placement in my home and various other help/advice. He's always made me feel like family and I appreciate that.

I guess when i'm sure then i will give terry a call----seem like everybody has great things TO SAY about him---i still would like to hear about the (shelves) extra price thing

Terry is building me the 150 lb. shelves at no extra cost. I asked for an extra shelf & it's $13 .

Does anyone have any close up pics of the Sturdy safe? Maybe a half dozen pics showing the door edge, dead bolts, the back side of the door, etc?

You know BiGGBAY the fact that you cant get the Amsec dealers in NYC to cut you a decent price and even if you went online the shipping to NYC would bite pretty hard.
So since Sturdy's price is with shipping if it were me under those circumstances then I would chose the Sturdy by default.
Just bolt it down, load it with goods, and call it a day.
As has been noted both of these gun safes at the price they are selling for and the features they offer are way ahead of their competetion.

Shipping isn't that bad at all. I can ship a safe to NY cheaper than Sturdy can. I have my option of about 5 different warehouses, all of which are closer to NY than CA, including one right in OH, which only has one state between it and NY.

There is a slight premium for certain zip codes in NY, but it's not that bad. Nobody has contacted me for a price, although somebody did call me to call me an a**hole. They specifically mentioned Sturdy, so I'm assuming it's somebody in one of these threads.

Then again, I'm not here to sell safes. =)

Don't worry about it Frank, that gal from Sturdy posted yesterday and told people to call her for more info on their safes. So equal rights in my book.

So now you have Triumph (me), a Sturdy owner, getting you prices on AmSec and my Houston buddy heeler, an AmSec owner, telling you it's ok to buy a Sturdy (if it saves you on shipping).

One big happy THR family!

To those of you who want pictures of Sturdy I will be happy to help out when I get mine on the 8th.
I may be able to save you the trouble of waiting for the pictures. I'll sum it up this way - the Sturdy looks like something you would see in a prison or a police station. If you are waiting for close up pics (available on the other threads) to overwhelm yourself with the beauty of a Sturdy you are headed down the wrong path. It's no were near as good looking as an AmSec BF, inside or out.

As I stated in other threads I purchased the Sturdy in spite of the looks.

I have my reasons, some of which I have shared. if BIGGBAY or others want my other reasons I will be happy to share on a PM - don't want to start another war.

Last thought - if you want a Sturdy you'll just have to get over the aesthetics.

Triumph, i called the number you gave me and it was a shipping depot not the warehouse for amsec so i was told to call (you know who) at the warehouse but a 3 0'clock--i guess i'll try on saturday then i will give sturdy a try and see what happen

AND A1ADBJ ----ONE STATE BETWEEN NY AND OH----WHAT COUNTRY

I have a distributor in Marietta, OH that stocks over 200 BF gun safes. Mostly textured finishes, some two tones. They usually ship the day following my order. My average time from order to delivery is usually less than 5 business days.

Sounds great but i'm still trying to figure out how you can ship a safe just one state over if it is coming from ohio? I am looking for something around 60h x 20-27w x 19-22d----do you know price---TEXTURE IS FINE

On a truck ;)

What I was saying is that I wouldn't have to ship it all the way across the country like Sturdy would. Sturdy would be coming from California. The other AMSEC dealer may be sending his from Texas. I would send you one from Ohio, and should have the lowest shipping costs of the three.

I'd suggest getting prices on whatever you can get prices on. Let me know what you're looking at, and I'll see if I can work out something better for you. If not, you'll at least know that you're getting a good deal elsewhere.

How long will it take for your safe to arrive

BIGGBAY - Mine was a special build. I ordered on Monday night & they asked to deliver the next Tuesday. 7 Days - may be quicker depending on whether or not they have what you want built.
