As I stated in my post we pieced together the chain of events afterwards, when the cashier came back and said, " What was up with her?"
The gun counter was way in the back in this shop, far from where she had the phone convesation. Not being omnicient, we weren't privy to what had transpired in her conversation. She had wiped her tears, composed her self, and then came back to the counter to look at pistols. There was no outward, obvious sign that she was in an agitated mental state. And as I had mentioned, it hadn't occurred to the cashier to warn us. Perhaps you, Thorn, are omnicient, but us mere mortals would have sold that pistol if she'd have had a permit.
I love stories with a happy ending. He also made a great choice for a starter gun for himself and his son. Granted I probably would have went with a 10/22, but hey...at least he bought a .22 to start with.
