Out of town and spent a fair bit of time reading Makarov.com.

My exc. condition supposedly is a Bulgarian, but in contrast to photos of others, it has No lettering in Cyrillic. Can't remember my new gun's geometric circle or diamond etc.
But it has a version of "Y" with a partial circle of dots.

Even though some East German Maks have these symbols (inspections etc), do a number of Maks from Bulgaria or Russia also have the "Y" with partial circles of dots?
This one question is not covered at "Mak.com" (Gunboards). This is the only question.

There should a diamond with circle in it stamped on the slide. If so it is a East German PM, I think the Y or a is a inspection stamp not sure what the dots mean.
I guess this did not get through the 1st time

Does it have a serial number on the left side? If so, does that number include any letters? Not all Cyrillic letters are different in appearance from Roman ones. For example, the letters M and T appear the same in both alphabets, and have the same sound. The Cyrillic letters H and P appear to be Roman letters, but have different sounds.

As far as I can tell, all Bulgarians have a circled number 10 as a maker's mark. I suppose that, if the "Y" mark is an inspection mark and not a maker's mark, it could exist on any gun made in one part of the USSR or other Communist States that was subsequently transferred to another (i.e, made in Bulgaria, then later transferred to EG.)

Great gun, by the way. My recently-acquired Bulgarian is also in great condition with little wear.

EDIT: I saw that you were the one that started the prior thread I was reading yesterday on this (don't know why a second thread was started.) In it, you do mention two letters on the left side. Again, keep in mind that, just because they may not appear to by Cyrillic does not mean that they are not. Cyrillic letters that can be mistaken for Romans include A, B, C, E, H, K, M, O, P, T, and X (and the number 3.)

Well, I should have waited for a day back home. Thanks.
Gone a few days and only remember the Y with dots, along with the two letters followed by the four numbers in sequence.

Those two letters seem to be DB. The D does not appear to be usual Cyrillic D, which is based on Greek (St. Cyrus).

You're correct in that the "D" is not a Cyrillic character, and the 'B' likely isn't, either (Maybe you have an early "Soviet Diamondback DB9x18" :D )

When the maker fails to provide a serial number, the importer is required to. In fact, if the maker's serial number isn't restricted to only Roman letter/numeral characters, the importer is still supposed to create and mark one of their own.

For whatever reason, my Bulgarian has only the maker's serial number, which does include Cyrillic characters.

Thanks. The condition is so good (the DA really Is as smooth as my new Sig 232) that the origin doesn't matter, if it can retain its nice finish and quality.
Some of the E. German Maks do not have a Y with dots. Want to tell a friend who escaped from E. Germany that he's not the only gun friend who has one. He also has an E. German parts AK.

A Moderator at Makarov.com (Gunboards) confirmed what seems to be stated nowhere else:
Those that actually have the Y & dots Always are E. German, and no other country manufactured Maks with these markings. If this simple fact is always true, it seems strange that it is not stated.
