Marlin 1894 reintroduced…

I think they should come with a scope already mounted and the safety should be really bright red. You know something else that would great? One of those tactical forends that look like black rain sticks and have bitchin’ lights mounted on them. Yeah!

Show of hands…Whose blood pressure went up?

Looks interesting. I’d be interested in a 45 Colt.

I have a1980 vintage Marlin 1894C in 357 Mag. I hope Ruger has put the quality back in the Marlin brand.

I've an older Marlin, had it whacked to 16", and it's in .44 Mag. It's been a hammer on deer, with 1600'sec handloads. Did put a scope on it (sorry!), to facilitate counting points.
Never used lead bullets, so it grouped just fine. I did relieve the barrel band, which helped accuracy.
Yeah, the crossbolt safety is right up there with teats on a boar hog.
The new Marlin looks great; hope it is a success.

Well, as my eyes are aging, scopes works better, Don't feel bad.

My 1980 vintage 1894C has micro groove rifling and it does not like cast bullets. But jacketed are very accurate. With full power loads, I'd rather use jacketed bullets anyway. I save the cast bullets for my handguns.

Okay, I want one.
Pistol caliber Lever-actions should be 16-inch or less.
Agreed, and I'd settle for 18" barrel, but, (sigh) I could live with the 20-incher.
The stock looks good. If the furniture is as consistently pretty as pictured on the website, and the bluing of the receiver/barrel nice and smooth, yeah, I'll buy one.

And no, I'd never scope a lever-action. Skinner sights, yes.

Since we are all being nitpicky... barrel is too long. Pistol caliber Lever-actions should be 16-inch or less. :neener:

I agree. 16” .357 with a threaded barrel and tapped for easier scope mounting would be ideal for me.

But it is still a nice looking gun. If I were looking at it from a hunting and pistol pairing perspective, it is a great choice…

Have you checked the prices on Winchester’s and Uberti’s ? It looks like they are comparable in price .

This is across all their lines. Bill is gone and they changed the type of firearms they manufacturer and have made a move to appeal to a trendier crowd.

Where is my Old Army? Bill said he would never discontinue that model.

Basic blue SP101 MSRP is $919.

Again comparable to a S&W revolver prices and you don’t get that hideous hole .

$1239! Whew.

Back in about 2007 I bought a used JM 1894 Cowboy in .45 Colt, with 24" octagon barrel. It was in near-mint condition, but I think it had its action and trigger slicked up by a gunsmith, because it is just as smooth as silk. I got it from a Gunbroker auction for about $400, plus shipping and the FFL fee. I used it for Cowboy Action shooting; now I hope to hunt deer with it.

$1239 is crazy.

Those Ruger/Marlins in .44mag will sell. Just wait for the .357/38spl to appear. ZOOM!
Yeah, they'll (the .38/.357 versions) sell like hotcakes, surely. Can't hardly find any decent specimens of the Rossi 92s these days.

Well, got an older JM-marked 1894C in .38/.357, and it's just a slick little carbine. But, shoulda picked up one in .44 back in the day, who knew these suckers would become so scarce?

It would be nice if Ruger would bring back lever actions chambered in the old cartridges. But, I doubt their accountants would permit it.

I have an 1890ish vintage Win 1873 chambered in 32-20. It is fun to shoot.
TALO or Lipseys may do a run of calibers like that. Send them a e-mail, you never know what they may get Ruger to make.

Stay safe.

Fast twist, holy crap, put me down for one!

Anybody notice the Marlin 60 and 795 on the site?

If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times, it should be a crime against humanity to put a scope on a lever rifle. Perhaps a hate crime.
In general, I don't agree. However, prosecuting for 'that' particular scope/mount, I might get behind it.

Exactly. A classic case of a rifle being mounted to a scope. Why doe shooters feel they need a 9x scope on a rifle with a trajectory that limits its range to 150 yds. at very most?

35W
I don't ge tit either. I had enough sense to put a 1-4x on mine, even 30yrs ago.

Ruger is really proud of their products now.
Inflation, rising costs of materials, COVID, all sorts of reasons for prices to have gone up.
