I gave the open sights a try today. I took the cheap Bushnell Sportview off of it and retired that blasted thing after only 2 sessions of not being able to zero it.
I loaded a magazine with federal 510's and fired 4 warm up shots and shot the remaining 10 shots for a group at 50 yards. I lined up the sights with the bottom of the circle (3") and was very happy with the results......
After seeing what it could do I made a correction and aimed right at the dot.....Same 4 warm up shots and the other 10 for a group....I really buckled down this time and was overjoyed with the results.....
I didn't mess with anything before I shot these groups. The sights were left the way they came out of the box.....Marlin must have some idea where to set them to be close at 50 yards. Needless to say I won't be putting the scope back on this rifle until I can't see the sights any more.
