LOL, I looked at the price, handed it back to him, and told him I'd take it, right then and there. I was afraid that if I haggled he'd look and see how much they actually had in it and add $50 to the price, lol.

Good going, both of you.

Lots of Model 60s in my family. Buy one, clean the action and shoot it forever.

10/22s have to be good, too, and there are a lot more aftermarket tailfins, sparkly mudflaps and hood ornaments available for them, if you like that sort of thing. :)

I'd buy both clean them up and put the lesser of the 2 on gunbroker to recoup my costs. El Tejon hit it, a good cleaning and a little tlc with make thes 60s sing! Folks shoot brick upon brick through them and don't properly clean them.

Get the 60, I've had one for almost 10 years with no problem.

bought both my boys one for Christmas when they turned 12, Mossburg 12 pumps at 15, my oldest son turns 18 this year, he's getting a Beretta 9mm.

We all love the 60's most we always outshoot my father with his 10-22.

I'm really thinking about picking up a 60DL at the local GunMegaMart.

What's involved in scoping one of these things? I'm a scope neophyte.

In the same vein, any recommendations of a good, sturdy low-power scope for a Model 60, not too expensive, would be appreciated.

Nice groups at 50-75 yards and occasional potshots at squirrels would be the extent of my ambitions for the rifle.

BTW I have one I got for christmas 30 years ago. It still shoots like a champ.

I like the 10-22 as well. But honestly, how often do I need a 25 or 50 round mag in a .22?

I have a Marlin model 60, I don't shoot it anymore because it jams so much. I have tried all sorts of ammo, polished everything in the receiver, replaced springs, and finally gave up and bought a Ruger 10/22. If you want mine, its yours for $25 plus shipping.

I have a Nikon ProStaff 4X32 on my Model 60FS. It is designed for rimfires and comes with the 3/8" dovetail rings that fit the 60's.
Cabelas has 'em for $99.

A ten dollar set of rings and a cheap 4x scope. Truly the easiers rifle there is to mount a scope for a learning gunsmith!

I'm sorry for sounding stupid! I did'nt mean marlin m70, I meant 795,7000.
also Mag-tech 7022 the 7022 don't have the micro-groove barrel but a fine shooter.

I bought the Glenfield 99 version of the Marlin M60 when I
was fifteen over forty years ago. I have one today, my son has
one and I am holding one for my older son. If you clean them
every 500 rounds and replace the aluminum feed throat every
ten or twenty years they last forever.
