I bought the 795 a few weeks ago . The gun worked great with remington high velocity and cci minimags . But the sights were awful . I got good groups but it shot way to the right . I adjusted the windage as much as I could on the crappy rear sights but it still shot to the right .
I don't like scopes . Is there an inexpensive fix for the sights ?
This is the first rimfire rifle I've owned . The manual says the bore never needs cleaning - really - wow ! It says it only needs to be cleaned if it gets wet or foreign material gets in the barrel . Then it says clean the bore with powder solvent . What the heck do they mean by powder solvent ???
I like the gun overall but I'm real disapointed that Marlin would put such crappy sights on their product .

Get the Tech Sights. I just bought a pair for my two 795s and they are a huge improvement. I also had a chance to try their service because I had a screw snap in half and they responded in just a few hours saying they'd send me a replacement.

PS - powder solvent means a gun cleaner meant for the gunpowder as opposed to a copper cleaning solution.

I know the sights aren't great, but this rifle shoots very well and none of the ..22LRs I know of in he $100-$130 price range will have good sights. In terms of out of the box performance, it's better than most for the money.
