I've put about 200 rounds through this rifle since I received it a month ago. Replace the buffer and spring, and the rifle is in great shape. Yesterday I had a situation where it would not fire, cycle the bolt, live round is ejected. On the next trigger pull I get about three rounds fired. Happened a second time, could not pull the trigger, cycle the bolt, ejects a live round and on the next trigger pull in fires about three rounds.

Before I tear this gun apart, I'd like to get some input on what to look for.

Thanks

Tom

Sounds like a disconnector problem; It's slam firing. Could just be filthy, or it may be broken, either legitimately worn or a botched attempt at a trigger job.

send it back to marlin imediately. Dont post it anywhere else and for Gods sake dont shoot it again. Technicaly you are in possesion of a full auto weapon and could go to jail for it.

IIRC the NFA does not consider a malfunction, not an alteration, that makes a gun go full auto a crime, but it requires you to have it repaired ASAP.....Doc

Sounds like it's dirty or someone either wanted a better trigger or had a "dude hold my beer and watch this" moment and tried to make a full auto.

I would bet that someone shortened the hammer spring to lighten the trigger pull and also stoned the hammer hooks. If you shorten the hammer spring too much the trigger group will lock up because the hammer can "overcock" and occasionally lock back and not allow the trigger to reset. If they also stoned the hammer hooks too much (changed the angle or made them too short) the gun will double, triple or go full auto. You can still buy new parts directly from Marlin - get a new hammer spring, sear and hammer. Be advised that the Camp trigger group is a pain to put back together unless you use a bunch of slave pins. Also make sure you un-cock the hammer before you attempt to take the trigger group apart or it will fly apart when you remove the little C clip holding the side plate on.
