According to the gun show I attended last weekend (in Mississippi).........NO.
Though prices may differ in other parts of the country.

I shot a camp carbine once and liked it. Kinda looks and feels like a 9mm M1 carbine. I'd prefer one over a Hi-Point rifle (not a bad gun either), and given that those cost about $350, $400 for the Marlin seems fair enough

They cost less than that new but "regular" gas was around $.69/gal back then too.

$400 for a Marlin Camp 9 in good condition around here would be unheard of, from a dealer at least. The lowest I've seen one private, with a nice aftermarket folder stock, was $500.

Dad has one that has been the exterminator around the barn for years. Great little gun.

If in good shape, I would buy it. I have seen many more priced above that number lately than below.

You can also use S&W 59 mags in them.

I bought my Camp 9 on an online auction, it appeared to be hardly used. What I like... size, weight and balance, shoots cheap reloads, it uses S&W pistol mags..

What I don't like....mine has been to the gunsmith entirely too much, it needs attention again.

I paid $400 two years ago.

If you reload.......M1 Carbine

It is one of those guns that will just flat wear out with use (faster than most) and with parts being near impossible to come by, that can be an issue.

I think I did fine like y'all have said if I need money I could flip it for what I paid for it

I tracked online prices on the Marlin Camp 9 over the past year, & $400 is a good price. I bought one with a bad paint job on the stock about 3 months ago at a little over that, and refinished the stock.

The neatest thing about that model to me is that they use S&W 59 series magazines. Since I have 2 third gen S&W pistols and a Kel Tec p-11 truck gun, all can share magazines.

Springs and buffers are easy to replace and available online; other parts for repair are becoming more scarce. Otherwise it is a neat pistol caliber carbine.

Same here, i have the tri-fecta: carbine (Marlin Camp 9), carry piece (Kel-tec P11), range toy (S&W 5904) that all use the same mags. Makes a nice 'bug-out/shtf' group (not that we talk about that sorta stuff here).

I bought mine long ago for alot less, but have seen them go on several auction sites in the $600+ range recently. I suppose because they're becoming rare?

$400 in good condition seems about right to me. Nice acquisition, and enjoy it!

Also, a suggestion to check (and probably replace) the buffer before you start shooting it. They have a tendency to get brittle with age and crack into a million pieces. Purchase them in two's.

IIRC, Tuffer Buffer makes a great synthetic buffer for 'em...
and Wolff Springs has the springs covered as well. :)

If there was ever a rifle that needed to return, this little carbine is it...
it was offered in 9mm, .45acp, and .22WMR (922M)
although, they need to have it use Glock Mags this time...
and bring it out in 10mm as well

I've got the Marlin 922M, it is one of the very few semi-auto's that cycle .22WMR well :)
