It's good that Marlin is keeping things moving along but I'm not crazy about the checkering on the limited shown here. Looks like somebody said 'hey, if it's limited we need to limit the appeal' .... to each his own.

A 1894c would get my attention. Hope they don't mess it up with a cheesy checkering pattern.
 
The sample 94C I had here had muddy looking checkering.
I was told the checkering's done by lasers now, they were still trying to get the machines adjusted for better "cuts".

For an all-weather gun made for work in rough country, I can really see the appeal of this. No pretty wood to warp or split, stainless but black to avoid glare for better hunting concealment, great Griz loading. If I was one of those subsistence survivors in Alaska, this would likely be my EDC.
