Marlin Shotgun

Anyone know anything about the Marlin/Glenfield Model 50 bolt action shotgun? I never knew any such animal existed until I saw one today. It was in good shape and just needed cleaning and the wood refinished...maybe some work on the safety as it was loose. It had an adjustable choke and I believe a 2 round mag??? Just seemed like an interesting conversation piece and maybe a fun gun to play with. Anyone have one or have any information about them...when made, etc.?

Additional...it has to be older that 1968 as it didn't have a serial number.

Bolt action

BLKBRD-They made and sold alot of these in the 50's.I've had 3 over the years,still have a 16ga.Buy 'em in pawnshops $50-$100.Some use them for deer in states where rifles are banned(Delaware).Heavy and ungainly,but reliable.Fixed up ,might make good trap gun.Like you say,it's an oddity.Buy it for that.Carewful,they kick like the proverbial mule!

I've got an old 1930's model 20 gauge bolt action that belonged to my dad. It's a Mossberg, not a Marlin, but it also has a 2-shot clip (with a third in the chamber).

It's a plain gun but very sturdy and works very well for hunting. It was my dad's only shotgun, and he could work that bolt to get off second and third shots with amazing speed.

Pumps and autos have pretty much made the bolt action shotgun obsolete, but in experienced hands they still get the job done.
