Yesterday I had just returned from the range and was cleaning my G19 when a friend came by the house. He said that he had never held a Glock before (he has a revolver) and would like to hold it. So I locked back the slide and handed it to him..suddenly the guy lurched at me and knock the gun out of my hand. I was like *** man, what was that all about!!.. he said he had always wanted to see how fast he could react to a man pushing a real gun at him and he knew I would not go along with it if he told me. So I said but I handed a gun to you not pushed one at you, to which he replied that it didn't matter, he just wanted to test his speed.

So I picked up the gun and lo and behold the Arotek rear sight has shifted and the entire right side is dented. I am now really mad and he apologises and says he will buy me back one. Now this morning when I pick up the gun I see that the front sight, an Arotek fiber-optic is twisted and the rod is broken..:fire: I also notice a binding on the trigger when pulled and so I have decided to strip the gun this evening when I return from work, I do not know if because the slide was locked back the gun was more susceptible to damage..man I am going to kick his b*** when I see him..

Lesson #1 learnt: anyone wants to see my gun go to a gunshop and hopefully they might have one like it in stock and hopefully they might allow you to hold it.

Lesson #2 learnt: Practice gun safety always and if you are handing your weapon to someone, ensure also that they understand the dos and dont of your weapon.. (i.e. should you ever decide to hand your weapon to someone, even a police officer).

<thanks for allowing me to get this off my chest I am so mad>:cuss: mad:fire:

Sounds like he is very ignorant or an inconsiderate moron. What does he think will happen if he goes kicking/hitting a gun out of somebody's hand so that it goes flying against the wall or floor? IDIOT!

If he wants to practice there are all sorts of things he can practice kicking out of people's hands without using someone's real pistol without their consent.

Lesson #3--this guy is an unstable arrogant wacko and not fit to be called your "friend" anymore.

You know, you could ask him to come over to your house, and then as he comes up to your door, you could shoot him multiple times.

Then, as he's gasping for his final breaths, explain that you just wanted to see if you could down a person coming towards you, that the speed of the approach didn't matter, and then thank him and offer to get him new lungs as he croaks...

Nah.....that would just be wrong, wouldn't it?

plastic sights.....one reason why I chose to NOT buy a Glock 17....seriously...how can a serious fighting weapon have plastic sights?

Sorry to hear about your Glock....your friend deserves a noogie.

1. The Arotek rear sight has shifted

2. The entire right side is dented (slide, frame, or both?)

3. The front sight, an Arotek fiber-optic is twisted

4. The rod is broken

5. A binding on the trigger when pulled

(And you haven't even disassembled it yet)

I'm sorry to hear about your Glock. That shouldn't happen to anybody. Not even beginning to defend what your "friend" (he's sound like a real jerk at best) did, but IF it was your carry weapon, he might have done you a favour in the end. I'm not sure I'd want to carry a weapon that suffered that much and that kind of damage if it got knocked out of my hand. What did it hit? Concrete floor? Carpet? Furniture? Not that it makes does much difference, that's far too much damage to be acceptable.

When it comes time for him to replace, I'd look for something a little tougher/more durable.

Next time you see him, just walk right up and kick him right square in the junk. Then as he's rolling around in pain on the ground tell him you just wanted to see if you could kick a "martial artist" in the junk before he had time to react.

If he's a real man and not just a poser, he will write you a check for $600 or whatever a new Glock costs, and hand it to you with an apology.

The sights are (relatively) cheap, even Aroteks. I would give the pistol a thorough once-over, and you will probably find nothing else amiss.

Then I would hand your friend the catalog from your favorite parts supplier, so he can place the order for the new sights--shipped to your door, and charged to his account.

I seriously DOUBT if your Glock is damaged, other than the sights, and possibly some cosmetic damage (scratches/nicks). If there ARE scratches and nicks, I would say it's new Glock time. I realize that you can have the gun refinished, but any guy who behaves as foolishly as this guy needs to pay the full price for his inconsideration.

By the way, I would guess he is young, right? (His behavior was pretty immature.) If so, then he probably shows poor judgement in other areas as well. You would be wise to distance yourself from this clown.

This is no Martial Artist!!!

I know and associate with hundreds of Martial Artists weekly. NOT ONE of them would dream of doing anythng so stupid. ( not even the little children.) They would also disassociate themselves and their students from anyone that did so. ( read: kick out of their schools)

Tell your friend to STOP calling himself a Martial Artist. He is an embarassment to those of use trying to practice the Arts.

If he wants to try it again, ask him if he'd like to knock the bullets away too.

Fed to him in double taps of course:neener:

Yes.....he needs to reimburse you for damages or a new gun. Then cross him off your list of friends. No doubt he will continue to call himself a "martial artist" however deep down inside you will know he is not !........and someone ,sometime, somewhere will ultimately make him aware of this fact.......and that lesson my be very painful and life threatening for him to learn. Ego eventually gets it's "comeuppance" ......especially those who "pretend" to be martial artists !

IB, I'm not a violent person. Keep that in mind.

If that had been my pistol, the moment he made contact and knocked it out of my hand he would've have his nose broken and been on the ground in a lock. I don't care if he thought it was funny or practice or whatever, but when someone knocks MY expensive possession out of my hand, be it a rifle, book, whatever, they should expect to be knocked over and have some damage done.

And I'm not even violent.

Sounds like he is very ignorant or an inconsiderate moron
I vote for ignorant. Does he imagine that somebody handing him a gun is any where near someone prepareing to shoot him with it.
I have never done this but I would imagine that I would be in a much heightened sense of awareness if I was planning to shoot you.

Your so-called friend has a screw loose. He doesn't know much about guns, and he hasn't thought much about guns, or, if he has, it was with a mind not fully functional.

People who carry guns and display guns need to be a little more choosy about who they hang out with. I sort of wonder whether you knew before this incident that he had a screw loose.

Sounds like he is very ignorant or an inconsiderate moron

Sounds like both to me. I would fully expect him to pay for his stupidity
or he would no longer be a friend of mine

he knew I would not go along with it if he told me.

You should call him and tell him he owes you a new gun and he can have the one he damaged. Follow this up with a registered letter to create a paper trail of trying to work it out. If he refuses, file in small claims court. He is no friend and you have nothing to lose at this point.

Some of these replies are hilarious. "knock the bullets away.." lol

This thread is a classic.:D

I suggest purchasing him a new jacket and helping him put it on... just sew up the ends of the sleeves first and then just as it's nearly on, pull it down a bit in the back spin him around and lift him up by the gonads and squeeze as hard as you can while keeping him up off the ground and then while he's up there... give him a very long sermon about gun safety, martial arts, and perhaps read this thread too him as well... then squeeze harder and lift him up a bit more... use two hands if you wish... he will eventually make some motions of one kind or another... just sqeeeeeezzzzeee and explain to him that the long slow squeeeeeeezzzzeee is something you are learning in shooting, like he is learning about martial arts.... :what: :what: :what:

If he did that with one of my pistols he'd be witness to my "effectiveness of the modern handgun as a dental tool" trick. Followed by a size 11 Hondo applied to the sun-don't-shine.

Make him pay. Don't invite him over ever again.

Would this idiot kick your dog to test it's reaction time?

That's not a friend, that's a sadist.

And even if he was just "joking around" life is too short for idiots like that.

PS the proper form for engaging Bruce Lee at close range is to hold your gun back on your hip and empty the magazine into his mid section when he closes, using your off hand to tie uphis arms. Anyone who expects you to "push" a firearm at them isn't even using the right terminology. Suggest he return his 'belt' to the cracker jack box he retrieved it from.

...a friend came by the house...

If that's what your friends are like, please don't tell me about your enemies.

Seriously: you need to make sure he reimburses you for complete repairs to your pistol, then tell him to find some new friends—and make it stick.
