Mossy 500 front end on a Maverick 88

I was looking for info on choke tubes in a Maverick 88 and found this thread, where a member stated that he had put the forend and slide tube of a Mossy 500 on his Maverick. Does anyone know if this is a drop in conversion or is special fitting required?

It sound's like they replace it both the forend and the action tube off a Mossberg 500A. On the maverick's the are one piece/unit.

The parts can be bought from ether Mossberg or Brownells(www.brownells.com). Another place to find parts is www.ebay.com. Many people sell parts to shotguns becuase there is more money in selling parts that selling the whole shotgun.

I have never done this conversion so Personal Message the person that did it to confirm interchange of parts moss 500a to maverick 88.

to change the forend/action tube is no harder that basic disassembly of bolt, carrier and trigger group. See mossberg or maverick web sites for insructions.

There isn't any magic involved is swithing out the one piece forend assembly on a Maverick for the more versatile Mossberg assembly.
It is a basic parts change, very little to no fitting involved.
I normally use the 7.75" length forend tubes on switch outs because most aftermarket forends are designed for use on this size tube.

Mossberg still offers a shorter tube and some aftermarkey forends require this length so be sure what length you need for the accessory you are installing.

Factory parts are available from several sources including direct but I have had the best luck from just two of them.
