It is almost embarrassing, but I just could not resist.

I traded a new Rossi M92 Lever Action Rifle in .45 Colt to an older buddy for his lightly used (less than 150 rounds) Taurus PT1911 AR chambered in .38 Super and a bit of cash. This is my first .38 Super pistol - I bought some cartridges and will be shooting it later this morning.

My wife just rolled her eyes, but this PT1911 sure feels good in hand. My hard-chrome Mauser Hi Power may have to move into 'backup' position as my 'Bar-B-Que gun' if this .38 Super 1911 shoots as good as it feels.

Do not know why my thumbnail displays the picture upside down, but I am out of time for now. I will revisit this later ...

I think red rosewood grips look best with stainless finished guns, just in case you decide to swap them:)

Bead blast the gold parts to a dull natural finish and it actually wouldn't look bad. As it is, though, the word gaudy comes to mind. There are a few guns that can look good with gold accents or inlay, but combining it with polished aluminum, chrome or nickel weapons is a little too pimp style for my tastes.

Maybe some faux ivory or pearlized grips just to dress it up a bit but other than that I think it would make for a fine BBQ rig. Seeing how it's in .38 Super you would also be welcome at similar cookouts south of the border.

Oh My!

Here is a picture of my very first shot out of my recent acquisition - also the very first .38 Super round I ever fired. I was using a box of Armscor FMJ, the least expensive .38 Super ammo I had found.

It made me smile ...

Oh My! - continued

Here is my first full 9-round magazine target (I guess I was getting a bit cocky and let the last shot get away). It only looks like eight holes because two bullets hit together on the left side of the center square. All targets were at a distance of a little over ten yards, shot off-hand. I was having such a good time, I never even thought of shooting off of my buddy's sandbag setup!

This PT1911 AR in .38 Super appears to be a 'keeper'. Now the wait for a Bar-B-Que or a Fiesta invite ...

And just in case a Taurus hater comes by - here is five shots from my 2.5" chambered short barreled Judge, also at a little over ten yards using 200 grain LRNFP over 6.0 grains of Trailboss. Say what you will, but the Brazilians had me smiling broadly, at least for today.

Nice shooting; one flyer and eight all close by in the same neighborhood! So she's pretty and she can shoot, that's a mighty fine combination in any gun.

Very nice gun.

My BBQ gun is a Taurus SS 1911 PT in 9 mm with double diamond grips.
well
over 2k rounds with out a problem and similar accuracy.

Any gun that shoots like that is welcome an my BBQ! I don't care whose name is stamped on the slide.

II like that gun but then again I have a deeply ingrained desire to actually be a pimp.
