I have loaded and shot 3k PPC#2's with BE mostly in .38 Sp cases. I recently bought another old Trooper .357 that I learned while I had it in the Ransom Rest doesn't like that round so I started experimenting. I mainly shoot steel plates at about 100'.

I am wanting to load more in the .357 cases and at faster speeds. I need to order some more bullets and would like others advice on which ones and how they load them.

I am looking at the 140 gr Zinger's and 158 gr Action bullets, both brinell 18.

What powder and how fast have others been pushing these without problems?

The powders I use the most have been Tite Group and Bullseye but I have some 231 and H110.

Thanks

I use a lot of the 158 gr. Action. With 5.6 gr. of Unique, I get an avg of 1008 fps out of my 6" King Cobra and zero leading.

Leading has nothing to do with velocity. Bullet hardness, sizing, lube choice, alloy hardness, powder type deal with leading issues.

I know this doesn't follow the thread completely but I shoot these 140gr "zingers" in my Beretta 9mm(barrels slugged .357),using AA#5 I shoot them at full power without any leading and great accuracy.

Unique is good stuff, but if you really want to get velocity up try AA#9 or 2400. Some say they like Win296 or H110, but those don't give much room to lower charges. With AA#9 and 2400 you have more room to play with.

Instead of lighter, go heavier. I love MB's 180gr .357 bullet (I forget the name of the bullet) for steel. My GP100 loves 11.3gr AA#9 under it. Heckuva thumper on steel.

Q

I've tried Tite group with 357 Action.
Even at a very high (almost max) load you just don't get the speed outta that combination.
I've gotten just over 1000fps, but not much more.
Also, Tite Group & the Blue bullet lube are VERY smokey.
Almost as bad as Black Powder.

I've used Lil Gun too - now that will kick some butt!!! ;)
1300+ fps.

I've also tried the Strikers (180gr) but there really isn't much data out there.
At least not that I could find.

357 Action are great for accuracy & no leading with Tite Group or Lil Gun.
Sorry no experience with Zingers or BE

Don't mind getting busted like that. I didn't do the math but thought maybe anything over 150 grs would exceed the 65 lb weight limit. Maybe you just cut the quantity back a little?

Thanks for the tip!
