Does anyone have experience with Mec-Gar? Are they any good or are they junk? Specifically I am looking for info on Mec-Gar for a Ruger MK II.

Mec-Gar is an OEM for quite a few gun manufacturers:

Beretta, FN, Browning, Colt, CZ, Kel-Tec, Kimber, Remington, Sigarms, Smith & Wesson to name a few.

I have never read anything negative about the quality or reliability of a MecGar magazine.

I avoid ProMag, USA Mag, and anything by Triple K.

"I avoid ProMag, USA Mag, and anything by Triple K."

Also anything by National. With the exception of some of the exceptional 1911 magazines available, MecGar is the only aftermarket manufacturer of pistol magazines that I would bet my life on.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried a Triple K and a USA mag in the past, both of which ended up getting the hammer. My son is wanting to start shooting the Action Pistol competition with me and he needs six more mags for his MK II. The Mec-Gar looked attractive compared to the price of factory Ruger mags.

If you want Ruger Mk II magazines, you can buy the parts from Ruger for a little more than half the price of assembled magazines.

Ditto what everybody else has said. Good mags at a reasonable price. More bang for you buck than buying Kimber, Wilson, Colt, etc. mags.
