Have you guys heard of this? I was checking out youtube and they have a couple of clips of this thing. They have a pistol that fires like 3 shots before it even recoils. Am I the only one that thinks that its pretty awesome in theory? Of course imagine the cost of all that ammo...

It's a fantastic firing system. If they ever figure out a way to feed it at the rates of fire it's capable of, it'll be really impressive.

While it may be the next big thing in crew served weapons, I think on the level of personal arms, anything that requires a power source isn't very appealing in my book.

It makes great sense as a shipboard defensive system. Good last resort to take out a cruise missle.

Makes no sense as a land-based offensive weapon.

Well, it makes sense as a land based defensive weapon, though. Missiles attack fixed targets on land as well as ships at sea. It makes less sense as a mobile missile defense system, unless they can overcome:

    1. size/shape restrictions.

    2. power supply issues

    3. ammo supply issues. That puppy will rip through the ammo.

But as a point defense weapon at an airfield or other high value target, it would be a great addition to the Patriot.

PS Plus, if you design the system to depress far enough to engage surface targets, I'm pretty sure that you can make a VBIED simply disappear before it gets close enough to do any damage.
