So I put the question to the Savage Nation. Is it time to ban assault rifles? What are they really needed for?

Of course, I can already hear callers telling me, “Well, Mike, if we’re armed with these weapons, the government can’t possibly take our rights away.” That is nonsense. If the government wants to take your rights away or imprison you for whatever reason, your owning an assault rifle is not going to stop it. If the police are not allowed to have these types of weapons, then why is the public allowed have them.

well you can take it as anti or look at it like this........he runs a business based on ratings. He knows he has a pro gun audience base. A little contraversial conversation is good for ratings. I see the first part as only asking questions to provoke pro gun answers. As for the rest of it up to the last sentence he is right. You can have all the guns in the world but that wont stop the government from out lawing them. And for the rest of it well it does not make sence, the police can already have better weaponery than the every day commoner.

Savage, widely known as a "conservative" obviously knows next to nothing about firearms, what the police have access to and what the public has permission from the government to own yet tells his followers that we can own weapons the police don't have access to (the opposite of the truth) and that we can't be trusted with semiauto rifles and handgun because a very very very (how many "verys" do I though in to communicate near 0 percent risk?)very few lunatics decide to shoot up some place they're associated with?

An anti is an anti regardless of affiliation with political party or other groups and a 2A supporter is a 2A supporter regardless of affiliation with political party or other groups.

Like him or hate him he still makes millions doing his show and has millions of listeners. He has stated many times he owns and shoots guns but when he talks about them he is uninformed like a beginner.

I doubt any of those on all the talk shows do any more than lip service to the second amendment. They are trying to draw an audience and will say what ever it takes to get the most listeners..

They stopped carrying Savage locally. I need to tune into the Atlanta station online and listen. Neal Boortz (talk show host) also is very pro gun.

When I listened to Savage, he always struck me as not being very interested in guns but is a 2A supporter. The same would apply to Rush Limbaugh and Shawn Hannity.

Favoring an AWB doesn't make him Liberal. Gun control isn't a defining issue of Conservative/Liberal. There are Liberals who support the Second Amendment and there are Conservatives who do not.
