Midway discontinuing CCI 500 and 550 primers

Received 2 emails today that Midway has discontinued CCI small pistol primers. Both 500 and 550 are discontinued with no further reference. I am wondering why they would discontinue these, or are they discontinued because they can't get any.

Now I/m wondering what primers they will discontinue next, I had a notice request with them for when they were available again. I have same requests for other primers, will have to wait and see I guess.

Has any one else received these email? I have in stock requests with a few, Midsouth, Grafs, Natchez, Brownell's and probably a couple more, just need pistol, will have to start looking for trades soon if this doesn't correct it self.

I'll have to go look again, maybe they are only discontinuing the 5000 quantity, I believe I have a in stock advisory request for the 1000 quantity too, but will need to check, Thanks.

You were right, I just looked and any 5000 bricks are gone, only thing left is primers in qty of 1000, except BMG of 500, I have way too many of those. This looks like their attempt at quantity control, sell primers at smaller quantity only. And they won't sell at $24 any more I bet, oh well here goes the budget.

Yes, due to the low level of explosive potential the Hazmat fee was only $12.
I bought 1k CCI 500 on Wednesday and had a coworker buy 1k of the same.
Both showed up today. Pretty fast shipping!

I didn’t realize Midway is now charging $75 for primers. They were $40 on Dec 23. I think the limit was 2k with a $20 hazmat.

Were you incognito on the second order? If not that there's a head scratcher for me as I ordered 1000 yesterday and afterwards got to wondering if I could have ordered more, when I checked their site it stated I'd have to wait 14 days before ordering anymore.

I've had multiple brands and quantities of primers with the "notify me" activated at Midway and it has yet to do so, I just happened on these by chance.

I got the alert too ... now the question is whether it is an ominous sign or simply Midway having a falling-out with CCI Federal (who now officially has a monopoly with the acquisition of Remington) orrrrrr ... does it have to do with the $379.00 per 5000 labeled price and we are about to see a 500% increase or something crazy like that.

I am having a hard time believing that given I have alerts on every quantity imaginable from them among 100s of other products that they overcharge-for. Which, given the $1000s I have spent with them over the decades I would assume that I at least have a fair shot of being notified ... but I'll screen shot this now and raise hell with them tomorrow when I ask them why I was not notified about their 1000 per quantity offer.

Is it possible the notification went to the junk or spam folder? The pit out so many like other places do sometimes mine end up there.

Yeah I always figured I’d been dropped from midway’s emails until a couple months ago when I was trying to find an email, checked my junk folder and found them. If you don’t actively open them your email will earmark the sender spam.

Correct. When supply becomes this sporadic it’s common for retailers to adjust their offerings to reflect market conditions.

This discontinued notice means they don’t anticipate selling any 5000 packs for a while. Why would they keep the 5,000 pack as an available option when they know it won’t be for sale any time soon?
