Here's a copy of the note that Midway is sending out to their Illinois-based customers. Good on them for doing their part in the fight. They have increased my loyalty to their company.

Dear Kristopher,

As a shooting sports enthusiast in the State of Illinois,
you may need to be worried. There is currently legislation
in progress that challenges some of your Second Amendment
rights. Please oppose SB 1195, HB 2532 and HB 2536 by
contacting your state senators and representatives.

The details of this legislation are as follows:

SB 1195, a bill currently in the Illinois State Senate,
is a large capacity ban on the transfer and possession of
AR-15 and .50 caliber or larger firearms (which are defined
as shotguns .28 gauge or larger). Large capacity handgun
magazines and gun parts (uppers, lowers and etc.) are also
affected. It will be a felony to sell, transfer and possess
these items in Illinois if this passes.

Also, there are two bills in the Illinois House of
Representatives, which are HB 2532 and HB 2536.

HB 2532 is a state level FFL licensing bill that will
essentially force FFL's out of business. It mirrors federal

law in regards to background checks, fees to the state and
etc. However, it will also allow city and county law enforcement
to review FFL paperwork as much as they like, and as often as
they like, without cause. They will be able to copy records for
themselves, and within 24 hours of a sale, buyer information
plus gun information must be sent to the state police to be
entered into a database. In addition, the two previous year's
4473 forms must also be forwarded. All state registration
information will able to be reviewed by law enforcement at any
time without warrant or cause.

HB 2536 is a gun show ban, but states that anything is a gun
show where firearms are used in sporting events. So, if you are
shooting skeet and you want to buy your friend's shotgun, you
can't. You can only do it through a dealer. There will be no
private sales allowed. So if the FFL bill passes, then all
transfers falling under the gun show deal (if you go through

a dealer for a legal transfer) would also be sent to the
Illinois state police for database work.
